just like windowsxp SP2/.NET framework and some multimedia apps for home theatre. i do not really recommended it, 2 cd installers..

It you like the idea of having one system for yer computing and home entertainment needs... then go ahead. If not, then like yob said.. it's really just Windows XP Pro with enhanced multimedia extentions.

winxp and a good recording software shud do, try cooledit 2000, quite old but useful, theres also SoundForge
And a plentiful of multi-track audio recoders out there.. just google it
