Here's a Frank user who reviewed the HTC one:
MCDC – June 21, 2013:
I’ve had this phone for about a month now and I’ve made a list of what I like and what I don’t like.
First, I like the ergonomics. Despite being a phablet, it’s easy on the hands. I don’t like the heat generated by processor-heavy applications. I have sweaty hands. Sweaty hands don’t go well with hot phones.
Second, I like the camera. While the reviews are a bit exaggerated, make no mistake about it: the camera won’t leave you wanting. The macro shot is outstanding. One thing I hate though is the unreliability of Sequence Shot. Sure, you can take 20 photos using Continuous Shot or a 3-sec video using Zoe, and edit these later as a Sequence Shot, but what good are these if you are given an extremely limited choice (only 5 of the 20 shots are available – and HTC chooses them for you)?
Third, the Internet Browser is underrated. It’s stable, fast, and it can rearrange and enlarge tiny texts when you double tap the screen.
Fourth, the Beats BoomSound isoverrated. It’s not that loud, and the quality – while admittedly good – is just above average. But this is coming from a guy who listens using HQ music equipment for about 18 hrs a day.
Fifth, you may find that the Home and the Back buttons are at times unresponsive. Here’s the solution: Go to “Settings > Language & keyboard > HTC Sense Input > Advanced > Calibration tool” and calibrate the screen using the lightest touch possible. I mean cat paws!
Sixth, while TV listings aren’t available yet in the Philippines, nevertheless, you can already use this phone as a remote control. Just set the country to Singapore or HK and manually set the IR blaster (the process is a lot of fun).
Seventh, and finally (because I still have a lot of work to do x_X), the batteries are underrated. It will take several charging cycles for the phone to achieve its optimum capacity. But at approximately 20 full cycles, the phone can, by my calculation, play music continuously for about 2 days before depleting the battery charge. That’s not half bad, if you ask me.
So there. Be realistic when you buy this phone. It certainly looks better than the S4, it feels better, but I doubt if it performs better. What I do know is this: this phone is a statement. It’s a phone you can and you will definitely flaunt.
The question you’ll have to ask yourself when you’re considering buying this phone is this: Form or Function?
