    PRESS RELEASE

IT Security Convention set on April 24, 2009

Local information security group, DEFCON Philippines (Welcome to DEFCON Philippines), will be holding its second “Beer Talk” mini-convention on April 24 2009 at The Grilla restaurant on Paseo De Roxas Ave., Makati City following the success of “Beer Talk I” in Cebu City last December 20 2008.

The conference, dubbed “Beer Talk 2: Manila”, is a gathering of people interested in information security. It expects to attract serious and budding security professionals, security hobbyists, programmers, enthusiasts and even students who are interested in the world of information security.

Homegrown IT security experts from various industries will be talking about unconventional hacking techniques, penetration testing methodologies and Botnet technologies. The speakers are professionals in their own respective fields in the IT Security industry and will share their unique technical experiences and knowledge not covered in other sponsored security conventions. The objective of the mini-convention is to give the public a glimpse of a few of the most recent security threats out there and how to protect against them.

Participants in “Beer Talk 2: Manila” will also be treated to an Open Hack Challenge game, nicknamed “Hackista 2009”, where contestants will be confronted with a security challenge that will test their mettle in unlocking the secrets to a “secured” Windows machine.

Other than the game, what makes this security convention unique from previous local security gatherings is that, this time around, there are no product sponsors to please, no product spiels hogging valuable airtime and no sales pitches.

DEFCON Philippines is a registered DEFCON Group International as DC6332. For registration, visit Welcome to DEFCON Philippines and DEFCON Philippines Forum - Index or email maxtor@defconph.org now.

nyaks ni balik ako karaan nga thread thanks silverhawk for bumping lols

Smart Communications is one of our clients, one of their engr said that pangit daw ang firewall sa CISCO they prefer Juniper.

kong ako wala rakoy gi labanan nila duha. kay kabantay nmn kog mga pros and cons nila duha pod hehe

sa juniper UTM (anti-virus, URL filter, etc.) it consumes a lot of memory. nya depende pod sa stability sa firmware nga naka install. naay times mo abot ug 80% ang memory consumption. ako lang e upgrade ang firmware solbad na

naka install ko ug Cisco with CSC-SSM module. did2 sa cisco netpro community forums, naka basa ko naay ni reklamo nga bati daw performance sa CSC-SSM . kuyawan ko atong CSC-SSM ako gi install da, ako napod kuliton kong mag loko to.

kaning ilang mga features i think dili na ni kaya kong abot na 500 users. kay abot na gani 500 users kinanglan nmn servers like ISA/bluecoat/ironport
