When people make such remarks, they say it with such confidence as if they know the complexities of space travel.

So let me ask you, can you calculate for TLi? Can you tell me how much thrust is necessary for LOI for a 2-ton spacecraft coming in with an orbital inclination of 7 degrees and with V of 4,234 m/s, and how many liters of fuel would that cost? Will the deceleration generate enough Newtons to adversely affect an onboard VSPOC sensor and if it does, will it affect mission parameters?

Kung matubag nimo na, then I'd totally agree with your statement.

i scratch my head n your opinion, complexity? how about late 60's do they go their with less complexity?

1969 = man on the moon
2009 = man proves, water on moon

therefore...... i scratch my head again.

The areas where the Apollo missions landed were mostly equatorial, the highest latitude being not more than 30 degrees from the Equator (Hadley-Apennine, AP15). That time, no traces of water were found on equatorial regions of the moon. If the Apollo missions continued and landed humans on the poles, they would have found water. So blame the US Citizens (taxpayers) for losing interest in Apollo, and NOT technology, for not discovering water on the moon back in the 60's. The missions stopped at 17. There was supposed to be Apollo's 18, 19, 20 up to 25, but like I said, people thought it was "boring", so the US Congress decided to stop funding Apollo. Again, i-blame gihapon nimo ang technology?

Furthermore, the 60's moonshots were of prestige, rather than scientific exploits. In fact, if Jack Schmidt didn't protest, wala unta'y scientist to set foot on the moon (Dr. Harrison Schmidt is the only scientist to ever set foot on the moon, during AP17, the rest were engineers/military personnel).

    Unsang ilad?

First off, wala'y nangilad. The Apollo missions of the 1960's DID happen. Only people's inability to understand the complexities of space travel is what's preventing most people (esp. in this thread) from understanding why it DID happen.

Second, there is water on the moon, as proven by the LCROSS impactor mission just last month.

So, again, I ask...aha man ang ilad?

very very very true!!! they only did it to overtake USSR leadership in space race..

by the way, let me say this lang, for many did not know this..space exploration brought us technological development faster in pace than any in the whole history of mankind..buot pasabot nako, paspas kaayo ato development karon (morag high gear ba) compared sa developement sa lain nga time..for example, since the time of gun powder invention, nag-start sila sa rockets, then sa cannons, then sa muskets, then sa colts, then sa gattling gun..pero all of this took around 800 years to be completed.. pero karon..almost all our technologies now (medical, trasportation, solar power, communication, tracking system, cell phones, weather forecasting, navigation, new alloys, etc.) are derived from technologies derived from space exporations..even our advance immune systems are being experimented at zero g.. even your baby's milk (advance formula) can be traced to experiments done on the astronauts. Given the fast pace of development, all the technological marvels you see around now, will be obsolete 5-20 years from now..and space exploration played a very significant part of it.. we may not know it or realized it, but we have lots to be thanked of because of space exploration..
