See, you're doing it again! And you think you can get away with a snide comment like that aimed/directed at a moderator?

Is this all about it? you want those comments removed? Well you are the moderator, even if I dont agree you still have the power to do it. Me Im just a meager istoryan.
Yes, but see, I'm actually asking permission. THAT is the difference--I am exercising the proper procedure in this matter, and I expect you to do the same.

Mao lagi, we can see this everywhere but nobody considered it art. What makes Cruz's poleteismo art then?

I keep repeating this--The work was sanctioned by the CCP, sanctioned by art critics/scholars, museum curators, all under the payroll of the Philippine Government. Ergo, it is YOUR government that determined this to be ART.

Well maybe they havent been to those slums...

But If I were to ask you? On your own opinion... sanctioned or not... would you consider it art?

Dont tell me you will consider something art because the CCP, the art critics/scholars, museum curators tell it so.

Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue about that; I'm right and I'll be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first—rock 'n' roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me.

More popular than Jesus - Wikipedia
When Datebook quoted Lennon's comments five months later in August 1966, vociferous protests broke out in the United States. The Beatles' records were publicly burned, press conferences were cancelled and threats were made. The protest spread to other countries including Mexico, South Africa and Spain; there were anti-Beatles' demonstrations and their music was banned on radio stations. The controversy erupted on the eve of the group's US tour, and the anger and scale of the reaction led their manager, Brian Epstein, to consider cancelling the tour.
Now tell me, is he also Anti-Christ?

Yes, tasteless and probably even mediocre (like I said, I have no right to say this, because I am NOT an art critic, but you asked for my personal opinion), but the fact that it was displayed under the "protective umbrella" of a government institution (an art gallery inside the CCP), and the fact that I am trained as a Humanities and art history teacher, I have to say that it is indeed "art".

You're missing the point here. What most of you are actually clamoring about is in fact a LEGAL issue, and as such, it's basically an act of questioning the laws of the land and even the Philippine Constitution (right to freedom of expression). As such, we have to work within a legal framework on understanding the root cause of this problem, and I just showed to you that the bodies of government (legal entities) responsible for this situation are entities that we the people, have put in office, and declared to be experts in their respective fields.

So what is the conclusion here?

    1) The guy can't be considered a rebel because he has no credibility, which he just made worse through his work.
    2) The guy can't be considered an artist because he's got zero talent, which so-called "scholars" who may just be rushing for a deadline consider an "artist". (The emperor has no clothes. Ignoring rodsky because he never seems to get anyone else's analogy but his own.)

In summary, he's a nobody that we have made a somebody because want to make something out of his nothing.

Seriously, bros, kita ra nagpasikat aning tawhana. Ditch his works and forget about him.
