yes almost all the pure breeds around is a result of prior crossbreeding... but in attaining the "new breed" status, the new breed was able to attain a fixed and consistent genetics. which is what is lacking in ASPINS right now. the precedent question really here is - what and how is an ASPIN breed? what is its breed "components"?

its not really being pessimistic about the whole thing... its being real. what really is an ASPIN bloodline... its mixtures and components.

Meaning, there really is a big possibility for us to "create" our own crossbreed-whatever source of Aspins available, and make that new breed, the prototype for the next gen Aspins. Just thinking aloud.

As to the components and mixtures... that, geneticists, vets, canine orgs and others have to settle and agree upon... to come up with a new characteristics...and make them 'fixed'. I think that's how canine orgs guard the stability of a certain breed... to minimize crossbreeding. I'm not sure, but I think the shihpoo breed is not yet officially recognized as a distinct breed. It's just a matter of time for shihpoo owners to be busy registering their pets to PCCI...

as to possibility, of course there is. anything is possible. but as i said, there should be base breeds that would serve as the foundation/prototype for the new breed; as to ASPIN, who can tell what's really ASPIN's origin? as it is today ang Aspin nahimo'g "generic" name sa unidentifiable criss-cross-breeding. if nay iro nga wala ta kabalo unsa nga mixture, ato dayon i-identify as "aspin na"...

You are right. The real problem lies as to finding the BASE breeds.

consult for what bro? its just an exposition of views... forum is just that, exchange of views.

as to to the topic... im sure the standardization of aspin as a breed have been tried by people more knowledgeable and more competent than us... let's leave it to them.. me, personally, i hope there will come a time that aspin will be recognized as such. but realistically speaking its a long long shot.

I think this is not "our" problem to be solved. Especially in my case, I only have one pet with me...I'm no vet, not really a canine enthusiast... but I just thought it's a good discussion to share with you guys.

I believe, some canine experts are working on this.

If we could just have a convention of all Aspin owners... and just be open to ideas like selecting and choosing a particular dog that will likely represent the ideal Aspin most.. chances are... we could end up having the fixed characteristics of what an Aspin should be, a prototype Aspin upon which all Aspin characteristics will be judged...hahah...

lolz exactly my take too. let's leave it to the experts, if they care enough about the subject.

as to us, its just nice to expound on the subject coz thats the essence of this forum - to exchange views.. as long as we keep it within the bounds of good morals and professionalism.
