the difference with hopkins and the others is that he still has it to compete with the elite. he still has the discipline and physical coordination. he can give calzaghe a run for his money pa.

That's what I was saying.. Hopkins quit while he was still on top (beating Tarver badly on the way out). These (Holyfield, RJJ) former champs and established legends just can't seem to let it go.
Pero sa lain sab... Lennox Lewis quit while being on top... but ducking the Klitchko brothers in the process ... BAD FOR BOXING. Everyone wanted the Lennox/Vitali rematch.
Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?
yups....
it could be because Lennox Lewis knows that he is beatable.... the Klitchko brothers got the tools to beat him, Rahman once got lucky enough to bring himdown, there's a lot of contenders out there who are aggressive enough to make a name out of fighting him, and nobody knows yet what kind of beast is still lurking in the great unexplored boxing pool of Mother Russia. although i'm very much sure that he would blow Valuev in one or two rounds....
He quit while his legacy is still intact.....
On another note ... It sure breaks my boxing heart knowing what a waste of talent, skill, and raw power David "Tuaman" Tua was.
holyfield is still fighting because foreman did it(being a champ @45). thats why he thinks that he can also do it but i dont think he can.
he should have done it the foreman way(retiring after his first loss and return to the ring after 20yrs)
Dr. ironfist just gave lewis a disease after that luckiest fight of his life, they call it klistchkophobia. but i think refusing a rematch is a good decision for lewis. taking a beating at 38 is just too dangerous. anyway, lewis got nothing to prove. he's been an undisputed champ and sure canidate for hof.Pero sa lain sab... another sad thing is that vitali klitschko retired because of injuries. he could have been the savior of the heavyweight division. i think no active heavyweight could beat him at this moment. he's a very intelligent fighter who knows how to utilize his available arsenal. he may not be good to watch because of his akward style but its very effective and it ko's his opponents. hope he will fight again because he lost his bid for being the mayor in his hometown. anyway if he wont, his lil brother wladimir might be the next big thing.
tua may be talented but i dont think he belongs to the elite. imo, i the biggest waste of talent was riddick bowe. he has the potential to be an all time great but it he threw it away. he doesnt have the discipline that one needs to maintain to be with the elite. he's not very serious during training plus family problems and going against golota at 250 lbs. golota almost beat him luckily he won by disqualification twice. now, just like holyfield, he is fighting past his prime, dreaming to win a heavyweight title again. i wish he will retireOn another note ... not delahoya. he still is very capable below 160. a superfight with floyd mayweather jr. (with mayweather sr. on delahoya's corner )would be a blockbuster. he maybe a bit past his prime but he is still a great fighter on superwelter(imo, he won his rematch with mosley). the only person capable of beating him convincingly is winky wright. he's a nightmare for fighters below 160Originally Posted by EZRA

maybe it will happen. promoter vs his fighter lol but i also dont think oscar will risk his reputation over winkyOriginally Posted by EZRA
I wanna see Winky vs Floyd ... right after Floyd kicks Antonio Margarito's arse... but Winky has to come down 2 weight classes, that's gonna be really hard... or they can see each other at SuperWelter weightclass.
Anyhow.. I wanna see Floyd fight the contenders in his weightclass .. Like Hatton, Baldomir, and Antonio Margarito.

David Tua was not considered as an elite boxer because like Riddick Bowe he never took boxing seriously. he never developed his talent and skills, he depended on his power punch too much. Imagine if Tua had developed his ring movement and defense, with raw power like that and a granite chin he could have blasted a lot of the elite fighters of today. Even Lewis was warry of his hooks.tua may be talented but i dont think he belongs to the elite.
he sure didn't below to the elite group. just like sam peters.
