unlocking is a hit or miss endeavor so i wouldnt bet on it. pero the 720 BE is a phenomenal(pun intended) proc by itself, even if the 4th core is disabled. first thing to do ia to check if your motherboard supports the unlocking feature, igoogle lang ang model + unlock core.

i agree with this, most multi-core optimized games released recently will at most use 3 cores only, you would be better with a 3-core CPU with a large L3 cache. there are still few applications that could fully utilize the 4 cores of a quad core system, the 3-core is still the sweet spot in terms of balance in gaming and core utilization.

Need a little help here. I'm planning to purchase a decent gaming rig VERY SOON! (tomorrow)

And im confused what procie to choose from.

Is it going to be the Phenom II 720 (Triple Core) or the Athlon II 620 (Quad Core)

Here's an overview of both procies:

Phenom II 720 (Triple Core) Athlon II 620 (Quad Core)

    Clock Speed = 2.8GHz Clock Speed = 2.6GHz

    L2 Cache = 1.5Mb L2 Cache = 2Mb

    L3 Cache = 6Mb L3 Cache = None

I will be using my PC for Gaming but I'm really not into Hard-Core Gaming stuff

I play games like Left 4 Dead 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Crysis 2, HoN, DoTA, etc...

So whats the verdict here? What do you think is a good procie? Hmmm...

6MB L3 Cache or an Extra Core?

Thanks for those who'll help out.
oi... murag mas kusog2x ne gamay ang triple core bai kay L3 cache 6mb man then and quad kay alay L3 cache. Lame lage paminawon kay quad. Base raman pud ne sakong ulo. hehehe.

Sometimes ang brand/specs ray maka ilad unya parehas ra diay og processing speed ang price lay naka difference

    phenom 2 x3 720 choi, kusug na >

i vote x4 620 because it costs P1,000++ less. the l3 cache give the x3 720 an edge for gaming, but the extra cores make the 620 better at everything else. besides you can use the extra money for a better graphics card.

    Phenom II 720 (Triple Core)
vote ko ani, if your into gaming this one is the better than x4 620
and if your lucky pwede mahimo 4 cores and 720, but even if tri core lang siya kaya pildihon ang x4 620 ani at any given time hehehehe
