it's cool.. although bisdak paminawn, it does make sense.. as CuJo!!! said, it maybe a satirical take, but it does make sense if you listen deeper to it's lyrics.. i just bought the album at Odyssey, i can say it was worth it. nice packaging, doesn't take up a lot of space. go Cebu music!

i dont think walay sense ang mga songs nila... if u listen closely to m-16, it talks about gunrunning and violence "presyo times two kung election ug kudeta"... it's a satirical take on a very serious issue, much like their song "Hala Suyop" (baligya resibo, cellphone, camera, relo--Hala Suyop!!), which also puts to light the problem of addiction to crystal meth, kapila na sila gi-attempt ug kasaba sa event organizers kay they thought the band was promoting drug abuse, apparently they weren't attentive enough to catch the lyrics...

By the way, people don't realize this but budoy is one of the smartest musicians that i've had the pleasure of knowing... He's so smart and he definitely knows what he's doing...

A satire reggae band-- that's exactly what I had in mind.

bai Cujo!!!, now that you've mentioned it, it does make a bit of sense.
though not as satirical as they might hoped it to be.

there's no doubt these guys have talent and i just hope that their album also
contain songs delivered in a more serious tone. if they keep at it like this, i'm afriad
they'll just become one those fads that people will soon tire of. that would be tragic.

OT:
btw, when i pass by ch.36 while channel surfing i always stop if they're showing
ismol tym unless it's a repeat. they're episodes speak closely to the visayan heart.
interviews are done without pretense. without attempts of glorifying the subject/person. budoy is a cool dude in my book.

hmmm.. u do have a point... the junior kilat that i've known ever since was always "tongue-and-cheek"... Jr. K is all about wit...

Well, this is my take on it.. Dub, in it's original form is so down tempo, so gloomy, so SERIOUS.. Adding Budoy's antics and witty visayan lyrics to the mix definitely created something unique... Well, although Dub Poetry isn't entirely new (Linton Kwesi Johnson, Lee Scratch etc..), Budoy's fresh approach has made this ordinarily "inaccessible" kind of music "digestible" to the Filipino masses... I bet for a lot of Junior Kilat fans, this may well be their first introduction to Dub Reggae, or Reggae for that matter... In a way, Budoy has become a messiah of sorts....

I might come of as putting the band on a pedestal, but u know how superfans are... hehehe..

Anyway, this is my opinion and i don't mind it at all if anybody disagrees with me..

by the way, they may be just a fad, or they may become icons... But it remains to be seen, we can never be sure... I've been with the music "industry" for about 10+ yrs, and all can say is that, there's nothing constant, music is so dynamic and unpredictable.. you ALWAYS never know...
