Maybe that's what we should work on. Getting people to come together and actually talking to each other. Although I have to admit though that some people are really difficult to approach due to their demeanor and such....

Pero if sa uban kay they feel happiness in winning or in garnering lots of fans. Ilaha sad na. Who are we to stop them from their happiness diba? :3 If dun sila happy, cge go~! xD Go go go~!

Basta ako, nalingaw ko sa mga new cosplay friends nako. Hehe~. (Aha na to si chi, naa na sad to colon. And mai, unsa man tong imong gi txt na gikan kang maki? xD hhehe~)

Making events to supposedly to stimulate camaraderie and schtoof isn't going to be enough however.

Since you really can't expect participation from all attending bodies because they're:

    1. Lazy

    2. Shy

    3. Feeling others.

It's a good thing we have cosmeets since we're able to meet and greet since it gives an occasion to just cosplay for the sake of cosplaying though with the special awards, some people still become the 'why so serious lolsu' sort of people who can't give up on the idea that they have to 'gotta catch them all' awards so to speak.

But in a way it still isn't enough.

I'm hopeful that we can have more online and offline extensions of the community like an active forum based community and non-cosmeet event/meet ups which will help enforce that bond.

Other than that, IMO, it would be nice if more people asserted themselves.

Both the current higher up figures and the not so higher ups so that we can all help each other.

Our leaders -if applicable- need to be more aware of their responsibility rather than be complacent douche bags who sit and just claim the glory that they didn't work hard for. Or sth. Wag kayong mala trapo na upo ng upo tapos nagpapalaki lang ng pwet. Not that I'm saying they are. Pero wag.

    D:

As for members, a little more commitment doesn't hurt.

    But you know?

We all are in the cosplay community for different reasons based on our own personal interests regarding cosplay. Don't expect to be able to randomly convert someone into an attention hoe sort or elitist what not overnight or even try to do so. If anything, consider those kinds of personalities and learn how to bring them together in a most productive measure.

The fans and cosplayers of cebu fuel the flames for the future of the cosplay scene. By that i mean, in the past years we have seen a stable rise of attendees and registrants in many groups, societies, and conventions. With the rise of this number so too will rise the number of conventions that come to life. With more conventions their predecessors will be encouraged to make their conventions even better. etc etc chain of events etc. A point has been raised that it is entirely up to the community on what the future of the scene will be and thats completely true.

    Heres hoping that:
    1.conventions become a monthly occurance
2.conventions in other parts of the philippines
    3.representatives in international events.

Its a growing process but the wheel has been set in motion. Keep on fighting, keep on dreaming and who knows? Maybe that future is just around the corner

Lol. Conventions every month? Sounds like someone I know who wants the same thing.

God knows where the money/funds for that sort of thing is going to come from.

Steal a bank much? XD Srsly. Be reasonable.

Though it's likely to happen. Somehow, people are starting to see the commercial value of conventions and are making it a trend---LET'S RIDE THE BANDWAGON! Let's hope that quality is still met amidst the quantity. Having an event for the sake of an event because everyone else is doing it is a waste of money and time. An event is supposed to be a venue of fun in itself. You shouldn't just count on the fact that the people who go there will just have to find a way to have fun on their own when everything else at the event/programme will fail them.

    : /

-snickers at the reps at international scenes-

    Oh you wish.

We don't even qualify for the WCS.

It's only a lucky strike that we have some cosplayers going off to other parts of the world. But as contestants/representatives?

FAR OUT till a veeery looooong time.

Though it would be nice to have that. Sure sounds nice.

    But meh.

    Not anytime soon.

Just playing the devil's advocate here. :P

    Hate me if you will.

    -giggles-

One can only hope and dream. Who knows? in the year 20xx perhaps? :P The whole bandwagon idea is an unconvenient truth. Hmmm but then again its a learning process, people will learn from mistakes but as long as it gives people a venue for presentation then its ermm tolerable in a sense. Maybe a convention every quarter at least so that there arent periods of long inactivity would be appropriate for a growing scene. A lot of good points were raised here and there but ill still hold to my statement that only time will tell. Heres hoping that its sooner than later.

    cheers

If you ask me, too many events are too many.

    Quality over quantity.

    Not to mention originality.

And above all: fun and enjoyment for most if not all.

Utilitarianism should be our guiding principle.

Not capitalist interests towards profit and money making.

    Or whatever other vested interests.

XD And my post does not reflect my political beliefs thank you. Those who know me personally should know better.

    Hope and dream huh?

It's such an 'inconvenient' truth to know that peddling one's desires on something so flimsy has been the habit of many people around here. Maybe maybe... Sigh. I remember that episode of Zetsubou sensei. Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't.

Maybe people won't learn. Maybe they will. What's your probability rate from that? xD Are you seriously ready to risk money, time and effort over something you're not even sure about save the flimsy 'hope and dream'?

Frankly, I still go for quality over quantity and leaders who will take responsibility. Or at least make at effort.

It's so easy to just go 'let's have events!' without even thinking or putting to mind what great costs it has on those who organize. Not just money but the stress and strain it puts on the people who run the programme itself. I don't think there's ever a pre-con whatever that hasn't had it's own share of conflicts. Some even beyond reconciliation.

Heck, even those who go also complain.

Yes. I've heard some people complain to me that too many activities make them spend more because they feel the need to have a different costume all the time and it's a last resort to simply recycle.

    Year 2090. hahaha...

As for the bandwagon thing, well people always want to join what's in. Sometimes it can be a good thing but most of the time it gets out of hand. Imagine having two convetions on the same month because everybody wants to organize a convention. Some would say it's good. The more conventions the merrier. Not really. Why? Because this is Cebu city. hehehe... Manila is fine. It's okay to have so many cons there. Metro Manila is made up of several cities. Convention goers can reach to thousands. There are also hundreds of cosplayers that they don't require individual cosplayers to do skits sometimes since there are just too many.
But Cebu? The cosplaying population is small. We even know each other. Having cons every month or more can be tiring, expensive and boring. Especially if the conventions offer the same thing and there's nothing new.
As for joining international competitions. Yeah! We don't qualify for WCS because most Filipinos don't make their own costume. I am also guitly of that. So I don't think that would be happening soon. hehehe...
Just my 2 cents. Hmmm... Cheap man cents. Just my 1 million dollars. hehehe

...The only time I saw Filipinos compete/go to other countries was:

    1. They're migrants.

    2. They were sponsored.

    3. They felt like going there.

But in fairness, we do have JM Chua who's a legend and stuff.

@_@ He should go as Dragunov. <3

Who else... I think Jin and Miguel... I heard Alodia might be going as part of a modeling thing.

    XD;

It would be epic to have WCS representatives. But from how I heard the PCS, it was utter fail.

    ._.

    Carry on Philippines.

    We'll get there.

    Somehow.
