One's knowledge of right and wrong depends on how much light he has received from God.

There is right and wrong that is mainly driven by culture. And there is the truth (the ultimate truth) that can only come from God who knows all things.

Katong mga dili mutuo ug Ginuo hala sige padayuna gyud na inyo sige pag-tuo-tuo anang mga scholars and authors. Ma-ilhan ra bitaw na.

By way of legislation? I don't think so.

Legislation is just only among the acts the state does when it determines what's good or what's bad.

In other words, a society's morality can be defined thru the establishment of political institutions to determine common interest (laws and edicts) for the state to perpetuate rather than by religious persuasion or a belief of a god.

Usually, the will and pleasure of its constituents govern the morality of a society.

Ultimately, there is no such thing as right and wrong. There is only what works and what doesn't work!

a concept of "God" acts only as a deterrent not to do "bad things" or socially offensive behavior. Just as you use santa clause to control your kids behavior. Behave or you won't get any presents from santa! Well, generally speaking.

Good, evil, right, wrong... thats all relative anyway. Morals change over space and time.

People will probably eventually invent a god... true. Pero not for the sake of morals. The Golden Bough by Sir James Frazier is a good reference on the the development of religion and other beliefs.

Morality is adapted a society because it benefits them in some way. Loyalty, piousness, sharing and other positive virtues are generally good for society... its probable that people will adopt them even if there is an absence of belief in god.

Hmmm. this is really interesting. You guys i think is not Governed by Right or Wrong but what works and what doesn't? Its just like saying You are right but for a wrong reason...

Let me share the info i learned...

In the columbine shooting (school shooting). the shooter left a note and said, if "God exist he wont let me feel this way".

    Point to ponder:
    1. He blame God for not having there.
    2. He is confused on what is right and what is wrong.

    My personal take on this:
    1. I need God to tell me what is right and what is wrong morally.
    2. I do not want a member of my family to suffer on this emotion, I better tell him about my God.

This i believe is not a problem of having a God or Religion. Because most Religion teaches compassion, love, affection, honesty blah blah blah.

I believe we need God/Religion. It might happen to us one day.
