With the new law requiring the MTs in the US, it's bound to start another outsourcing phenomenon.
Just like call center, gamay pa to sauna then look at how big the industry is now.

So for the MT industry, it's still in it's baby phase. Salary-wise pud cguro. I mean look at how much the salary of callcenter agents have risen. before it was just around 10k, now its around 15k+ na dba?

And unlike the callcenter industry, this is more stable daw. Since call centers depend on their accounts (some pull out if business is bad, right?) well sa MTs it depends on the new LAW (i forgot the name, check their website nlang coz it's there or google Medical Transcriptionist) and the LAW requires MT work so its bound to stay there no matter the economy status.

Oh as for the number of companies where you can work, I think MTC has a sister company where their gradutes are going to do OJT and get hired after. Also they are planning to put up their own Production company to do MT work.

Also, once you graduate and have enough resources, you can actually start your own production. Meaning be your own MT Company. Get your own clientele, a couple of MTs and earn more on a per output base salary and not on a fixed-base salary as what you get working as a company-based MT.

And on the last part of the orientation, they had a show/testimonial from one of their graduates.
She worked 4 months before going homebase and now earns up to 70k.

Of course, she's not the average performer obviously. One needs to excel as an MT for you to earn BIG.
if you performed badly and you are working homebase, your client count drop you easily ang get another MT job from another MT pool.

once you go homebase, how would you get clients? i dont think you can just shop around for clients... so in the previous post, how did she get her client and go homebase? or the company she worked with allow her to be homebased?

or is there a place or website that potential MTs can sign up and let those doctors in the US choose?

so basically, MTC is not operational as a MT outsourcing company just yet, they're not into production but they train people who wants to be medical transcriptionists and once they complete the course, they help them land transcription jobs. sakto ba?

was just wondering unsa na company ang sister company aning MTC where their students can do OJT, cebu-based ni? coz as far as i know, there are only 2 operational companies here in cebu. the third one which placed an ad on a newspaper (Northern Transcription works), im not really sure if its fully operational/into production or school ra ghapon. i guess they just placed the ad to invite people for a seminar.

@wildstar: I'm not sure about the details but in a nutshell, here's hw i uderstand it works.
When you go hme base, you get clients on your own. You can search the internet as there are doctors,nurse,other medical professionals seeking transcription jobs. or if you know a doctor/nurse in the US r canada, you cant start from there. Here's where you can start your network of clients by making your friend your middle man or a starting client for that matter.

Ang nakalisud daw sa homebase is you are on your own. There is no company at your back watching over you.

@tsikay, yes for now MTC is the only TEDA-certified MTC training camp in cebu. There are newer ones in Maila starting out already but they are not yet here in cebu. The other school in manila offers shorter course but according to Mark(part-owner of MTC), they dont recommend you taking shorter course because of the nature of the job. Im sure dili nato kaya, specially if non-medical atong backgrond and be an effective MT in such a short time. Lahi ra jud daw ang quality of work daw.

as for their sster company, I cant remember the name. but IM sure its not NTW.

o yeah, in their brochure they got lots of companies in not sure if Cebu to tanan where you can work as an MT. Akong maremember kay Touch Asia, SPI, kalimot nako sa uban. I misplaced my brochure man gud.

I think naa pud toy ad na sewspaper about being a editor.
Also pwede pud daw ka muventure later on as Legal Transcriptionist(not sure about the term) and into othe fields where it's still a transcription job.

im curious about the homebase thingy... since i know being a transcriptionist is a very strict job... a transcriptionist can be sued (if ever he/she makes a mistake in the transcription)... hope you can provide some more details...

yes the next thing is legal transcription... look at those accra(?) books... hehe

also, is there an MTC already in cebu?

Anyway, before you get to enroll you have take an exam an pay P500 for the exam.
the exam is easy lang daw. English as well as typing test.

You can join their orientation tomorrow at 12:30-01:30pm so you can ask all the questions you need.
