After talking to her mother on the phone, Casey decided to do something productive for the rest of the day. Perhaps she can clean the house, but where should she start?
In her bedroom where some of Dave’s clothes are still on the floor? Or in the kitchen where she could smell the coffee he made for her the last time they were together? Certainly she can’t bear to clean up the living room where she could still hear Dave’s laughter while they watched their favorite sitcom.
This is hopeless. Casey thought to herself as she adamantly went to her room and picked up all the dirty clothes. She’d do the laundry even if it means seeing, touching, and smelling Dave’s clothes. She was brave, isn’t she? Enough tears. For today, at least.
Casey hummed a tune she heard over the neighbor’s radio as she placed all the clothes in a bag and prepared to go to the Laundromat. She ignored the lump on her throat when she caught a sniff of Dave’s favorite cologne from one of the clothes. She managed to blink away the burning sensation in her eyes when she remembered how good he looked when he wore the shirt she gave on his birthday.
There, there. You’re doing great Casey. She silently patted herself on the back as she took her keys and headed for the door.
The sight that greeted her on the doorway almost took her breath away. And for what seemed like an eternity, she stood there staring at the figure of the man she had been longing for in the past weeks. Scratch that. She had been longing for this man forever.
“Casey,” she heard Dave say his name and she snapped out of her thoughts. “May I come in?”
“Of course,” she motioned Dave to the living room then closed the door. The bag of laundry sat in the corner, totally forgotten. “Do you want something to drink? Coffee or juice? Anything?”
She was babbling. The only thing she wanted to do was wrap her arms around him and tell him how much she missed him.
Dave sat on his usual place on the couch and suddenly, everything felt normal. Except that it wasn’t. Casey sat down beside him wanting to be near.
Dave cleared his throat and started to say something but closed his mouth, as if changing his mind. There was something in his demeanor that made Casey hesitate. She can’t figure it out. It felt like Dave is finally here beside her, but he was not her Dave.
“I-is there something wrong?” Casey asked, aware of the irony of the question. Everything is wrong. Absolutely everything.
Dave could only look at her with his dark brown eyes. He seemed to be at a loss for words. “Casey,” he blurted out with full of emotion. He raked his hands through his hair and Casey thought he looked so desperate. “I love you.”
And it was Casey’s undoing. She tightly wrapped her arms around him, never wanting to let go. She felt Dave’s arms around her as well and she can’t hold back any longer. She let the tears flow shamelessly. “I love you too Dave. More than anything.”
ill try maka post sa part 7 next week..hehe. i'm in a dilemma...how do i proceed with the story kaha.
Should Dave do the right thing and end it with Casey? But what if everything feels right when he's with the other woman?
Should Casey be the one to initiate the breakup because in retrospect, she shouldn't even be in this relationship. But what if breaking up with Dave means breaking herself as well?
HELP.
