Some religions like Buddhism can have elements of Atheism in it but this does not mean that Atheism in itself is part of religion.

Here are the qualities of Atheism that differentiate it from religion.

    1. Atheists do not believe in God
    2. There isn't a common belief
    3. There are no universal atheist code or standards
    4. There is no church or ritual
    5. There is no unified conception of spirituality
    6. There is no scripture
    7. There is no priesthood/leaders/founders
    8. No Tradition / No Holidays
    9. No Concept of Afterlife
    10. No Creation Myth (and in case your thinking that the Big Bang is a myth... it is not because it's a scientific postulate that can be tested and the effects be clearly observed, measured, validated and be empirically demonstrated.) Just turn your tv to an unused channel.

A religion may share one or more attributes but to have all qualities above is essentially the complete absence of religion.
therefore buddhism is a religion ^_^
base on the examples that you've mention! ^_^
they believe in afterlife man and they have traditions as well as holidays ^_^
and oh they have a church and I'm very sure they have RITUALS..
basin c confucius imo pasabot bro dili buddhism ^_^

atheist= no nirvana (it don't believe that there is a after life )

buddhism = yes to nirvana (believes in after life)

technically you're dumb, saying that technically they are atheist,..
stating that, buddhist has no God to believe in, doesn't mean they are atheist, you blithering pig's arse...

every rule has an exception bai, don't you ever ever, compare buddhist to atheist, they're much more better, than your pop culture you've worshiping and spreading all along, hehehehehe

Buddhists are still Atheists by definition.

I think the problem is with your negative perception of Atheism....

Oh, and you might want to get rid of that stick up you @ss. Relax lang diha...

    sao2x ko ani beh....

    the points you've measured above?

the number ten, that big bang,.....susmaryusep! please, try to understand it man, i'm tired, you're making me an imbecile too

sa imong mga points na pud, imo mn gi-punto2x,maka-ingun jud ko na, therefore, techinically, Buddhism is not an atheist

totoki maayu, asa ka-dool ang atheism sa sa buddhism, kung mo-ingun ka "Buddhist don't believe in God, they Believe in science, i'm an atheist, and i don't believe in God, and i also believe in science, so we are brothers" (pina pisot ug tingog kung mo-basa mo )

that doesn't mean bai, na technically they are atheist na, coz, every rule has an exception bai, they are so different kaayu, ako pa nimo, layu ra jud kaayu, ma-owaw ka sa imong brother/sister atheist oy

Buddhism is a religion... sure.. some would argue that.. but for me, it is.

But buddhism shares some attributes with Atheism in its non-belief in God.

And since Atheism is plainly the rejection of belief in dieties like God, Buddhism is technically an Atheistic Religion.
