better check both units first, doesnt matter which dslr you'll pick for as long as your comfortable with it... when i was about to buy my dslr iwas torn between canon 1000d and nikon d3000, i ended up buying the d5000... hehehe just buy a dslr which will suit you, kanang dili ka mag mahay nig human ug palit... hehehe just my 2cents but at any rate, both cameras are ok

how about 550d or the latest 600d bro? if you are planning a 2nd hand, palit nalang 40D, samot di ka magmahay gyud ana...

550 d nlang kung mag 500 ka if canon. if nikon ka adto na sa 3100.

Nikon D5000 nalang kay maoy "pinaka" active nga community diri, ug ganahan ka makat-on daghan kaayu mga maayung lake nga nag gunit ug D5000 diri, pwede ka mangutana nila
