It happened this week, I think it was around tuesday, when someone I knew went to Western Union in Basak Mandaue Branch. She asked what their dollar rate was, and they answered P43.something ( i couldn't remember the exact decimal) and they told her that they could only give it in peso coz they don't have dollars. She asked them which branch would give out dollars, all they said was "sa Main branch". She asked where the MAIN BRANCH is and they couldn't answer. They just said "aw try nalang sa foodarama" Then my friend asked how she would be able to know if that certain branch has a dollar and they told her that "basta naay RCPI mam" At that point, my friend got disappointed because she saw in their own branch that they have an RCPI sign and at the back of her mind, she was thinking why they don't have it but yet they have an RCPI sign. But still, she decided to just fill out the form because her time was running out and thought that the dollar rate wasn't that bad. When she was about to hand the form to the lady in charge, they then told her : "maa'm ok raman nimo 39 sa!?!" Good thing, she was still holding the form and she just told the people from Western Union that "mubalik nalang sa ko unya" ( she didn't let them think that she got suspicious.)
My friend just thought, what if the form was given to them and was encoded and then that's the time they'll inform her of the sudden change with the dollar rate? Could it be a modus operandi or somethin?
* I'm trying to share this story so at least you'd be extra cautious. I pity those people who just said yes without having any idea of what's going on. Think about it from 43 to 39?? that's wayyy tooo loww! that's insane!
