Default America a country promoting culture of death and confusion

For many of us filipinos, AMERICA is the lush green meadows and country that enfluences the world through money and power. we have amired them so much that most of us would like to become americans ourselves.

We havent noticed that its a nation of death, a country promoting ABORTION, EUTHANASIA, DEATH SENTENSE, CONTRACEPTIVES EXT. EXT. and because of these the whole world is affected because of there influence we are sometimes confused of what is right and wrong, just look at our generation today full of confused people and morally corrupt.

    Comments please... PEACE

America is a country with its share of good and bad, just like ALL other countries (including the Philippines). You have made several erroneous statements in your topic posting. Perhaps you should do some research, or at least watch the international news channels more often. America doesn't PROMOTE abortion. To the contrary, it is a country in CONSTANT moral debate regarding the topic. Literally all political candidates (and esp. Supreme Court nominees) are GRILLED and pressed to make public their stand on abortion. The country is literally divided in half on pro-life/pro-choice ideology. Abortion used to be unlawful, but with the infamous Roe vs. Wade decision in 1973 it became a legalized procedure. Euthanasia is legal, but only in very extreme cases involving those with ZERO chance of recovery (i.e. "brain dead"). However, it still is illegal to perform an "assisted death" or mercy killing on a consenting terminally ill patient. As for the death sentence, some states utilize capital punishment while others don't.. Again, the country is constantly re-evaluating the propriety of the death sentence. You mention contraceptives as evidence of America being a "nation of death"?? Aren't you being just a teeny bit ridiculous with that one? Hmmmm.

Well, in response I must tell you that you DO have abortion here in the Philippines, in case you didn't know it. I don't know about euthanasia, but I've seen many, many people left to die in the indigent wards and your government hospitals here. Without money to pay for treatment, they die slowly in dirty beds with almost no medical assistance. Is a slow and sometimes painful death by neglect so much worse than euthanasia? And as for contraceptives, aren't those brightly packaged little condoms that they sell in the drugstore considered a form of contraceptive? How about the "morning after" pill that the doctors here prescribe to induce a miscarriage in an unwanted pregnancy? Isn't that in the same boat with an abortion?

If you are confused by American culture, don't follow it. If you do try to follow it for some reason, do a little research to see if you are getting an accurate picture before you think that you really understand it. It doesn't seem that you do, based on your posting. If you feel that your generation is morally corrupt, then look in your own backyard before skirting the responsibilty by blaming someone else for your perceived problems.
