To me pping the pictures that I take is half the fun. I enjoy taking the pictures and enhancing them all the same. Fulfilling kaau.

almost all photographers use post processing to enhance image, usually to adjust color, sharpness, contrast, and brightness. other than the mentioned details, then it becomes something else. just my opinion...

    Apil pud ko.

I take photos of toys using different shutter speed and aperture combinations (ISO being constant). I then transfer them to my PC and keep the ones I like best. I'm not happy with the quality of the photos taken with a Canon A630 so I usually use Thresholds to color sample the lightest and darkest pixels and use them with either Curves or Levels. After that I used the High Pass technique for sharpening the photos without too much noise. I then use the Hue/Saturation to improve the colors.

If I feel like it, I further manipulate the photos, e.g., adding painterly or special effects, making composites using the different tutorials available online.

I enjoy being a noob photographer and a p*ted Photoshop user (gi-amin pa). I long for the day when I'll have my own D-SLR and a Wacom tablet so I can take this hobby further and become a god. Bwa ha ha!

IMDHO, you should have a good composition to start with prior post processing it, since it would be NO GOOD to post process an image that lacks technical merits on it... those people who were mentioned here by pnoize are actually good at both and probably have extensively worked at their own respective workflow...

    Both!

In the end, the resulting image is what matters. Either you already got it perfect on the exposure or you had to tweak it a bit in post-processing is just a means to an end.
