Genuinely creepy.... although Anderson isn't one of those who are very good talkers if I can stray from the topic a little (they say he can't express his thoughts properly in the DVD commentary) but that doesn't change my mind of the skill he has put into crafting The Machinist.^ that movie was creepy. christian bale
The movie also utilizes the "Always give the audience what they don't want so they will suffer as much as possible" principle. e.g. in the theme park we wanted the kid to steer away from the damnation road, but they go right into it anyway. It was also very symbolic and metaphorical, that eery theme park sequence.
