I dont believe in such spirits separating the Body when someone dies. Its called spiritism. Its widely practiced by voodoo ceremonies and native people in ancient times.
Of course thanks to the teachings of catholicism(not catholic people) its been adopted and merged by Catholic Christianity. Native culture Not to mention idolatry are one of the catholicism's main beliefs. (something to do with engraven images)

Communicating with the dead or seeking such experience clearly prohibited in the Bible:
