Restricted free agent intawon inyo giilugan oi.

There are rumors that Josh Smith wants out of Atlanta. I have no idea on what's going on internally for the Hawks but it seems that they're in limbo after a surprising finish this season. Trade gyud na si Smith padung.

I had an idea about what's going on "internally" in Atlanta. It's the owners. Remember about the riff between a particular Atlanta owner and his partners? Sige pa sila hearing karon. A year or 2 years ago, that particular owner (Steve Belkin) issued a move to veto the Hawks' player signings that they have to not exceed the 2-3 years worth na kontrata.

I think bag-o lang na-lift ang kadto na move, pero right now, for some freakin' reason, the owners are not confident to invest in the Hawks future, financially. They don't want to pay the LUXURY TAX.

In case of Josh Smith, they want to simply give him the new contract (bahala na mahal) basta SIGN-AND-TRADE jud padung. This sure sucks, homeboy raba ni sa Atlanta si Smoove. Unless, they get rid of other players for future benefits, i.e. Marvin/Bibby for expiring contracts.

Medyo labad sa ulo ni ilang mga negotiations oi.

So this explains why Atlanta has only 12 players in their payroll list.

If this is the case, then restricted free agents Josh Smith and Josh Childress are already out of Atlanta next season. Blockbuster trades gyud ang mahitabo ani with either aging or players with expiring contracts coming to Atlanta. They're giving away very talented and promising players and their future as well. Unsa kaha ang gusto aning mga team owners that they can even afford to let J-Smoove go?

I'm having a theory of my own: Maybe Josh Smith still wants to play for Atlanta but gamay ra kaayo ang offer sa Hawks for an extension. Of course with his efforts and performance last season, he really deserve something more than $10M per season which the Hawks are not willing to pay.

Kung mawala man gani si Smith sa Hawks, magmahay gyud ni sila. Smith will become a big superstar in the NBA in years to come. Swerte kaayo ang team nga makakuha ani niya.

Nuggets Will Listen To Trade Offers For Carmelo

*i post nalang nako tanan kay walay link*

The math does not compute for the Nuggets.

    Somebody has to go.

Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson and Marcus Camby are the team's big three. But they proved to be a big zero in the NBA playoffs.

Convinced they must make a significant change to compete for a championship, it's no secret the Nuggets will actively pursue trade options. What's more significant, according to a source familiar with the team, is nobody on the Denver roster has been deemed absolutely untouchable.

The Nuggets want to make a deal.

The challenge will be to get the Nuggets front-office team of basketball operations vice president Mark Warkentien, player personnel veep Rex Chapman and executive adviser Bret Bearup, who have sometimes worked at cross purposes since the blockbuster acquisition of Iverson, on the same page in any trade proposal.

It will cost franchise owner Stan Kroenke in excess of $44 million plus luxury taxes to keep Anthony, Iverson and Camby on the team payroll next season. That's simply not a smart investment in three star players who recently won 50 regular-season games, then went down without much of a fight against the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoffs.

    Somebody has to go.

Despite his impressive defensive statistics, Camby's value as trade bait has been hotly debated by Denver management for the past 12 months. While the Nuggets tried to pry one of the young stars from the Atlanta Hawks in return for Camby last spring, a 34-year-old center now would likely have more appeal to a contender looking for the final piece to its championship puzzle.

As the Nuggets bet Iverson will not choose to opt out of a contract scheduled to pay him a salary in excess of $20 million next season, the team remains uncertain of what to do with the 32-year-old guard down the road, especially when Denver considers A.I. could be attractive to a potential trade partner looking for a marquee name to sell tickets in the short term and provide roster flexibility in the long term.

While the Nuggets have given no indication they will actively shop Anthony, the constant drama in the life of their 23-year-old forward has become the source of enough frustration within team headquarters that Denver would be willing to listen if somebody made a trade offer too good to refuse for Melo. The problem? In a league where stars such as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James dominate, it's difficult to come out ahead when trading a singular immense talent for any combination of players and draft picks.

Denver will not stand pat. With a draft choice late in the first round, it's believed the Nuggets are eyeing North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson. The team also is known to have recently scouted young European center Marc Gasol, currently property of the Memphis Grizzlies and a prospect who might be ready to emerge from the shadow of his big brother with the Lakers.

If the Nuggets want to make a blockbuster deal capable of altering the chemistry of a squad whose success seems to be less than the sum of its parts, however, they must move Camby, Iverson or Anthony. Who would get shown the door?

Maybe the more pertinent question is: Can Warkentien, Chapman and Bearup agree on what direction to take the Nuggets?

To put it nicely, this is a management team of three strong-willed, opinionated basketball men who too often appear to be competing for the ear of Kroenke.

For example: At the trade deadline in February, the Nuggets irked NBA teams from coast to coast when the front-office staff simultaneously worked deals for Sacramento defensive wizard Ron Artest and Memphis shooter Mike Miller, only to come off as an organization whose left hand was unaware of what the right hand was doing.

As the Nuggets struggled to make the playoffs only to be rudely bounced by the Lakers in the first round, it was not unusual to see Warkentien or Chapman take separate turns consulting and consoling Kroenke in the arena seats or a hallway outside the locker room.

If the Denver front office cannot give the boss better advice or results, why should Kroenke continue to listen?

Before the Nuggets can build a championship identity, this is a basketball organization that needs to find its voice.

    *****

Please ayaw lang tawn si Melo...

    A.I. is 32

    Camby is 34

    Melo is 23

syempre mas maau i keep nila ang young player...ahak ani oi

Hehe... pero dili mo-fit si Kenyon sa Hawks, financially. Dili man sad padung rebuild Hawks intawon oi. Kung ganahan ka mo-improve jud ang imong Nuggets, you have to "give some to get some". Naa pa intawon 3 years ang kontrata ni Kenyon, mao lisud cya i-trade.

And it's going to be either Marcus Camby or Allen Iverson na you're gonna have to give up if you want a talent like Josh Smith. So kung doable jud na trade imo ganahan, ani jud cya:

Allen Iverson+1st round pick for Bibby (expiring contract)+Josh Smith in a sign-and-trade

    or

Marcus Camby+1st and 2nd rd pick for Josh Smith in a sign-and-trade

Mao na ang ako trade scenario plus considering the trade value of Josh Smith, which is really high right now, these trades could make sense.

A college student who was not able to play organized basketball since third grade has applied for the NBA Draft. At 5'8 and 130 lbs, Zachary Feinstein has officially declared his eligibility for the 2008 NBA Draft. Feinstein, who never got a grade less than an A at Washington University, was able to declare for the draft by accomplishing all the needed paperwork. Just last March, Feinstein sent a letter to the NBA stating his interest about "coming out" for the draft and the league responded and asked him to fill up a set of forms stating his game experience.

Though he obviously belongs to the unknown list, Feinstein believes that he'll get picked and asked if David Stern calls out his name during the draft night, "One of my friends said I would be the happiest 5'8", 130 pound Caucasian kid in the world at that moment," Feinstein said with a big smile.

Feinstein showed former St. Louis University Basketball Coach Rich Grawer some of his skills and Grawer gave some dribbling, passing, shooting, and jumping drills to Feinstein. Grawer enjoyed the sessions but suggested that Feinstein should use his skills somewhere else. "After watching his performance in this little skills session, I really think it's probably using his math and engineering and science background to be on an NBA team to help them with their financies, with their salary cap...if the scoreboard breaks...I'm sure he could fix it," Grawer joked.

"When I entered college, I had certain goals in collegiate athletics, and I believe I have met those goals, so I thought it was time to go onto the next level," said Feinstein, who created the website DraftFeinstein.com to chronicle his adventures in pro sports.

Those goals? "Absolutely nothing," according to Feinstein.

Here's a pic of Zach Feinstein:

**LOL, LOL, LOL. He's got nothing to lose whether he gets drafted or not, after all, signing a contract worth $60,000 a year ain't bad enough for a guy who's got no basketball experience. He ain't an A-grader for nothing.

    Tripping, tripping, tripping..

    More about Mike D'Antoni

Preliminary negotiations between the New York Knicks and Suns head coach Mike D'Antoni has begun but Knicks president Donnie Walsh has denied talks that the Knicks have already given a formal offer to the candidates. D'Antoni's talks with the Chicago Bulls are getting vague as the Bulls is not willing to take D'Antoni financially. D'Antoni and his camp is looking for a 5-year, $30M range package which the Knicks for sure can afford. Financially, the Knicks can be D'Antoni's best choice.

Problem though is that D'Antoni's system might not work for the Knicks because of Eddy Curry and Zach Randolph. D'Antoni is also not a big Stephon Marbury fan. D'Antoni sent Marbury away from Phoenix back in 2004 in preparation for acquiring Steve Nash. But according to Marbury, playing under D'Antoni is just fine because with the way that he's training now, he'll be fit for anything.

But Steve Nash at Phoenix himself expects and wants D'Antoni back next season.

"He's my coach." --> Steve Nash on Mike D'Antoni.

**What a great turn around in weeks. Mike D'Antoni lists New York as among his least options last week and now is in talking terms with the Knicks. When money talks..
