If Smart user ka then you use your ph0ne to connect to the net,its cheaper at Php10 per 30mins minimum. I browse istorya via 3G or wifi if im on the go. I also send emails. Video call, ahm kato ra ni test mi wat its like. Video calls are n0w as cheap as regular calls, right? But then again,if your area has no 3G signal, then its useless. And i have also tried c0nnecting our pc to my ph0ne to c0nnect to the net.
Dnt get 3G ph0nes,if you dnt intend to do the sort of thngs 3G can be used on.
bri..musta? long time no hear... bro curious lang ko.. unsa na diay imong phone karn? are you into winmo devices already?

pero sa ako experience, parehas raman ang rate @ 10pesos/30mins.Can 3G phones be used as modem?
Yes. But existing GSM voice call charges shall apply.
i use my 3G phones, 6280 and v3x as modems for my laptop if naa ko sa Manila,
and my v3i on GPRS kun walay 3G signal.
I should notice unta if naay difference sa rate because i'm on a prepaid plan.
anywayz, take notice of the connection speed of the screenshot i posted above,
w/ a 3G phone it's 460kbps, w/ GPRS phone it's only 115kbps ( though sometimes it would peak to 171kbps )
It has been wonderful on my end.. I could have internet connection where ever I go. Even in a fast moving vehicle, I can still browse the web... Btw, I am using Globe's Visibility..
I have experienced this Smart 3G, unstable speed and slow. It will put 460kpbs in its monitor and even 940kbps with some tweak, Smart claims it 384kbps, but the true speed youll get is roughly around 100-235kbps only. The GPRS true or realistic speed is around 43-56kbps only. There are some protocols also which are incompatible even when used with a desktop or laptop computer.
See this --> http://misnt.indstate.edu/harper/Stu...GPRS/GPRS.html
I better stay in wired DSL, more stable, truly fast, and wider range of compatibility.
This 3G is good only for email or net messaging emergencies if Internet Cafe is not available in a very provincial area.
yes, i agree 3G/GPRS is only good when your mobile.
Like in my case, i can't bring my SmartBro connection when i'm in Manila. lolz.
And, of course, cafes abound everywhere there where they charge only 15 pesos for one hour.
But i would rather stay in the comfort of my room and use 3G/GPRS @ 30pesos/hour,
than go out outside and expose myself to unnecessary risks.
Safe, comfort and convenient surfing right at my accomodation.
Unless you don't have a laptop and a 3G/GPRS connection,
then you have no other alternative but go to a cafe,
wait for an available PC and cramped youself into a sort a cubicle and hope that the guy left or right of you isn't all that nosy.

practically saying, if internet connectivity is the matter, its better to have a true fast and stable speed even in quite soundly area rather than in a calm area with an 100-250kbps speed only and unstable connection that feels like 56k dial-up at sometimes.
safety is another story, many people get killed even inside their residences.
does speed also depends on the handset?
i've never noticed such erratic connection on my v3x or 6280.
i should notice if ever theres a lag because i play killzone liberation online everynight even when in Manila.
i plug my usb wifi adaptor on my laptop w/c is 3G connected and then play online on my psp.
a slight lag on killzone would mean increase number of deaths than kills.
I surf or play online between 10pm-2am (more gamerooms during this hours)
when in Manila, i always stay at the San Carlos Mansion - Mabini (only 800 pesos/day).
And i feel safer inside a hotel room w/ 4 guards at any given time than stay on a cafe w/ only 1 guard/ usually no guard at all on such ungodly hours and such god-forsaken place.
and yes, i agree it's all a matter of preference.
edit: and of course a wired connection is still the best.
