Most effective non lethal options would be the PEPPER SPRAY .

KUng mag expandale baton ka .... its an IMPACT WEAPON . That means you SHOULD know how to deploy it effectively , hit the subject effectively and most of all EDC it properly much more going to school if the policy does not allow you then it defeats the purpose of buying and bringing it with you most of the time for self defense purposes. That takes months or years of constant practice and not merely just own one , possess it in person etc and makes you invincible. Unlike PEPPER SPRAY , it it can be deployed easily and all you need is commonsense and presence of mind.

I guess the legalities would relate just like knives, the BP6 talks about the legality of a knife based on the profession and work of the person subject to it . When apprehended by authorities , NEVER , take note NEVER EVER reason out that it is something for SELF DEFENSE. That would only give you more trouble.
