this violates the labor code, hala kiha dayonOriginally Posted by Silence
I've worked in a call center and it really sucks. The management sucks. The team leaders are idiots and HR is incompetent. Hehehehe. They are not what they seem to be and I am never going back. They violate the labor code but nobody gives a damn. They give the final pay after five months. (That's because I threatened to sue.If I didn't they might have not given it at all.) I'd rather stay jobless as of now than get a call center job. Unless they make me CEO. hehehe

Isberto said many of the jobs no longer existed due to technology. He cited the 108 and 109 operator-assisted calls. Many subscribers no longer avail of these services because of direct-dialing and cellular phones.
In 2000, he said there were 216 million calls handled by 108 and 109 operators. The number dropped dramatically to 36.5 million in 2006.
“The number of people using operator-assisted international and domestic long distance calls has drastically reduced, so the people tasked as operators have no jobs,” he said."
"In a statement, PLDT said it needed to terminate 575 employees nationwide due to “changes in technology and consumer demand.”
“The affected employees will receive a generous compensation package plus a two-year medical program. The package is the normal retirement benefit plus 100 percent premium. Those with less than 15 years of service will receive 200 percent times the number of years,” the statement reads.
Average termination pay is P1.1 million."
And a similar situation COULD VERY MUCH happen in callcenters because a client can pull out anytime thereby forcing them to terminate a lot of employees. in this case MOST callcenters have an unspoken assurance that they will absorb retrenched employees to other client account, lines of business or departments.
Smart people would never build their careers in an industry with so much uncertainty. This is very imminent gyud in jobs which is production/manufacturing in nature, callcenters included. Production-based, technology-based pa gyud. Okay lang siguro if you are in America or Europe because you can find a new job the next few days regardless of your age and educational attainment.
in Philippine setting problema gyud ang laborers for very uncertain security of tenure like the one happend in PLDT and Cosmos Bottling. bisan pa ug naay union lagpot gihapon ka kay dili naman ka pasudlon. DOLE is a slave to the employers. when you apply and you already passed the 30 yrs of age idiscriminate pa gyud ka kay overage bisan meet nimo ila qualifications. that why filipinos wasted no time going out of this country for security of their family. ok lang ug single ka kay imung tiyan ray magkutoy sa kagutom.
that is why, call center is not a long term Career.. invest while ur stil young..
ako, nag invest nkog house and lot.. thru pag-ibig..
then if mka work na balik ako wife, we'll also invest on a business..
pero while naa pa ang call center, take advantage of it's high salary...
next investment, namu is a family car. hehehe..
it's how u play the game!![]()

ang tendency lang sa kadaghanan ma stuck-up sa callcenter kay wala na man lain industry that pays as much. so the history of the PLDT model will be repeated. it's a long, shiny yet very thin rope. unlike traditional jobs, such as banks, real estate, etc. hinay2x pero kanunay.
when people start to build careers in a callcenter, they are already making a mistake. they should have the wisdom to see through the bubble.
This is really true. I have witnessed such with the call center company I left.Originally Posted by whoo

naa say hr nga pwera buyag imbes silay mag alaga sa human resource, mao man nuon ang magpabadlong, imbes na mo show sila ug good customer service kay mao nay ginabuhat sa companya wala man hinuon mga batasan. murag mga batang way buot ning uban hr.
oh well if dili na nila tagan ug pagtagad di nako magwonder ngano daghan mamahawa sa kana na kompanya.
I am currently working in another call center company right now and things are way different. You can feel how they really take good care of people to prevent attritions. Support groups and operations has an open communnication, all concerns are answered in no time. People get promoted thru performance. den most/if not all positions are offered for internal job posting. di lang basta basta manghire ug taga gawas. kay diha maglisud ang mga agents, lahi jud nga gikan pagka agent imong amo kay makasabot. di kay gikan man hinuon ug mga company bahala na if walay alamag sa industry kay basta sigma, saon..magkamasol ang mga taw sa ubos ug sunod sa ilang gusto. den dako kaayo silag sweldo walay range nga gi sunod. as if silay nangapagaw ug trabaho. ang sweldo sa agent 1/5 or 1/6 ra intawn kompara sa ilang sweldo. asa man intawn ang hustisya ana oi.. tsk tsk tsk.
Am not really sure if call centers are not for a long carreer. depende sa company kon asa ka na belong. if naa sila gilabag sa labor code, if di sila stable when it comes to monetary funds etc. basta feel nako magdugay jud kay support gud ni xa, sa fast growing technology, dunno with marketing murag wa koy idea.
