Memories are still fresh like it was just yesterday, I can still remember the first time I met you, you were like a fur ball walking, the first time our eyes met it has been decided, you are my Dog and I am your Human, you grew big and strong, day by day, until you grew old and your body started deteriorating, did the best that I could, but the time has come that you must drift away in your sleep, I know you are happy where you are now, but for now we must say goodbye, goodbyes are not forever, we will be reunited old friend, when my time here on earth is up, Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge, just be ready Snoop, I will fetch you up when I get there, I will bring your leash with me, but for now Snoop I have to say Goodbye, you will be missed old friend, you will be missed.

    moved my post here:

i have an Aspin named Rambo, we rescued him when he was a puppy from an abusive owner. Though an Aspin he was loved by the whole family. We never know his breed, but was told that he is part German Shepperd and part Aspin, he was golden grey and had a wolf like feature. Energetic, funny and sometimes sneaky for he will grab my socks and run away. When i back from work, he will always be at the gate very excited to greet me i will have a slurp attack from time to time...my very own streesssssss reliever

A year ago he had some infection on his skin and his grey fur began to shed. We went to the vet and did some test. He gave us some medications and weekly anti biotic shots for my Rambo. Was told to give him a bath every two days using a special shampoo and strict diet, no chicken no corn substance or bread, just pure dog food.

However his condition deteriorated. He lost all of his fur and his skin was already exposed. We brought him to another vet , he did a blood test and was told that Rambo's skin infection was blood related or hereditary in nature. And the most humane thing to do is to put him to sleep.

We brought him home and we never gave up hope that someday Rambo will recover, still gave him his regular baths and diets... however blisters and cuts began to appear from his skin and blood was oozing out. We put an E Collar to prevent him from injuring him self more. We massage his skin to try to relieve the pain and Rambo gave a low moaning cry and some sign of relief. Then he will cry again and again.

My Rambo was in pain and suffering a lot and I have to make the most difficult decision in my life.

Goodnight old pal sleep tight...im going to miss you, when you cross the rainbow bridge there will be no more pain and suffering.... I'm so so so sorry...and I love you old pal...

Coming from a family who loves dogs and enjoys their company, it is sad to see a beloved pet in pain caused by disease and the humane decision is to put her to sleep...

It's totally heart wrenching to lose someone so dear to us.
Experienced the worst kinds - over death and having to
give it to someone else whom we feel can give the best of
    care to our beloved.

Last year, had to give away my baby chow spitz because
he had become a threat to us since he had bitten several
peeps in the household and I was the last victim. My Dad
was furious and even suggested we'll put him to sleep but
I protested because he's practically a family. So last resort,
I gave him to my friend. Mas graveh ang sakit ui, mas sakit
pa sa nabuwagan or namatyan when I handed him over to
    the new owner.

Taking something away from your system is like losing a part
of you and you feel so empty However I'm happy to know
that he's in good hands now and even have six adorable pups

There are times I feel lonely without him next to my bed but
just like any other heartaches, we have to learn to accept that
there are things not meant for you to keep

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
