Every past philippine president has contributed something for the worse of the country, no exception. Interestingly, we always have this marcos was great mentality, often as a result of the failed progress as promised by the take over of the aquino. It left a great disappointment in the hopes of many and they resort to thinking, marcos was better.
Marcos was a dictator, and all projects were attributed to him, basically the private sector was dead. It doesnt give any credibility that marcos was in anyway better sincd every economic decision was his final say. It was marked with lots of price controls, a symptom of mismanaged economy. If anything marcos achieved, it is this: he made a mark on the minds of the people just the same way as any dictator would associate any progress to himself. And it doesnt really make him any better by pocketing billions of US aid in his term. But he was our most brilliant president, sad to say his elitist attitude rid him off the respect for the rights of people.
The aquinos, ninoy the communist and cory the pawn. Ninoy would have destroyed our economy if he was president and possibly just replaced marcos as dictator. But his wife did the job of depleting the national funds, blaming the marcoses Cory continued the practice of cronyism of marcos, it is just that its her side benefitting. Cory should have never been president. The only saving grace for cory was the limit on her term, otherwise we could have been much worse. Her concern for the people, regardless of sincerity, was overshadowed by her complete incompetence in any aspect of leadership.
