Hahaha, I'm still a long way from teaching anyone, right now I'm looking at those free and premium themes, I don't have the time developing it myself, I'm more of a salesman than a builder, I try to learn all the things about the products..

For me, I would go for WordPress. Aside from being open-source, it has a lot of active contributing community to the source code. It has been tested for years and growing of vast useful functions. I find WordPress good specially on their API. Easy to deploy, develop and maintain the entirety. And keeps up the trend of web developments.

Have you guys saw the latest patch of WordPress? It has automatic updates, once a new branch version comes out, it will auto update itself with the use of the WP_Cron built-in class.

I get a lot of job offers with WordPress and make at least 100k in pesos every month from developing custom themes and plugins. So for me, I'd choose WordPress. I was never a fan of Joomla since Mambo, but I know it's a great CMS and has its own advantages. What I can say is, to each his own. You will never know until you learn both. So, learn both.
