How bad is our educational system?

Last month, i was able to talk to a foreigner who has a filipino wife, they resides here in cebu. We talk about investment. He mention that he would like to create a book for filipinos that will educate us about finance particularly on the area of investment, but he notice that filipinos have no fun of reading books unless they are told to do so especially in schools, we have no personal motivates to get a book and read.

Lately, I am watching The Apprentice (https://www.istorya.net/forums/index.php?topic=125917.0), a very good reality show in the US that teaches people about people management indirectly and also gives the overview of what is the life of the "Rich and Famous". I just wonder if we continues to watch telenovela like "Bakekang", what education would it provide to us, this telenovela speaks the reality of who we are, we love to see a main character who is underdog coz it reflects the true status of our country that filipino are underdogs, we are "slaves", how bad would that be the future of our country if most filipinos have no time to educate ourselves with financial education, how terrible would be our country.

i guess we're stuck in that sh*t right now. people are into telenovelas, students are into computer games, to sum it up, we're all into garbage these days. rarely do we see people who value education, or learning to be more appropriate, these days.

Pero ky most of the filipinos are not WISE man jud tawn, labi tong wa jud ka Iskwela, Madala ra jud tawn ana ila mga atik atik...Luoy sad tawn nato ani...

im happy and thankful that im belong to the class(during my elementary days) nga 30 plus ra me kabouk koz mas dali pa maabsorbed ang leksyon bsan ang atop sin nga pwerteng inita kaysa karn nga init pang atop nga sin pwerte pa gyung dghana sa usa k klase...

kinsay ma blame aw may lain pa ba....kahibaw namo...dili na lang nako litukon....ato nalang nang i ampo ilang mga kalag...

ang angay na lang nato buhaton nga maningkamot na lang ta nga mo asenso atong pag puyo aron maka eskwela atong mga anak(ahhh....mura sad kog naay anak) nga maka skwela ug private skols kay bahalag dghan sud sa clasroom atleast aircon!

Agree ko ana. kabantay mos mga pinoy nga murag asta ang level of thinking nagpinareha nas telenovela nga ganahan e underdog unya hilak hilak..I dnt really see a good sense anang mga telenovela karun.
Ako pud kasakay sa eroplano said the same thing that most Pinoys dnt read and shows no interest wd books or any educational materials kay gusto nato living n comfort perme of which in some way agree ko niya.
Our govt unta shld imposed ba wd a more strict law abwt our education system unya dle lang unta e commercialized kay dle man tanan ka afford ug mahalon nga schools.

Sakto. Dili ganahan ang politiko ma-WISE ang mga tawo. Kay kung ma-WISE kita, katong mga walay tarong na politiko dili na danaug sa elections.

Lastly, kana na mentality kay panahon pa man sa mga kastila.

Its deliberately bad

so voters will not choose wisely....

Its easier to corrupt a dumb voter that an educated one...

so a bad education system is a CONVENIENT TRUTH.....
