A similar thing happened with Salman Rushdie's book
... but, millions of Filipinos live off the wealth of Islamic countries
The "spiritual leader" of Iran issued a fatwa against Rushdie calling on Muslims to kill him... this is the same guy who will have his finger on the trigger when Iran announces... oh yeah... our peaceful nuclear program?.... surprise!
who ever create it is an asshole... it only trigger to our brother muslim people...... kuyaw nuon na mag ka gubat na gud..
Yeah, but the problem is... why should all the people of America or any Western nation for that matter be held accountable for the actions of one random individual? There are billions of people on this planet, expecting everybody to act responsibly is wishful thinking. The real issue is the intolerance being displayed by the protesting Muslims who have exploited the situation to inflict violence against anybody they perceive as an infidel or non-believer.
One person being an asshole does not excuse another person's murderous rampage due to the former's actions. Sure, the filmmakers may be assholes for offending the muslim community, but actually pinning the murders on them since they 'provoked' these ultra-sensitive muslims is just silly. Murderers should be treated as such --- murderers and criminals. No 'insult' can justify any one murder.
Example:
I say your mother is a *********.
You then proceed to murder me, along with everyone who is directly related to me.
Was it my fault I got murdered?
People have the right to offend and be offended. However, they do NOT have the right NOT to be offended.
I haven't read any other religious book, but try reading the Bible (especially the OT). It's all up for interpretation, really. Christians have since rejected 'the old covenant' for the 'new one' (Jesus), though I don't know exactly what that means logistically (does the old covenant include the 10 commandments?).
Roughly 700 years ago, Christians were killing heretics / infidels in the name of God as well. Funny thing is, the Islamic states in the middle east at present time kind of resembles Europe 700 years ago. Islam is relatively younger than Christianity by about 600+ years, so Christianity had ample time to 'adjust' to modern society. ^_^
kato diayng ILAGA in modern times?
There are practically people from every creed who has killed in the name of God. In the case of atheism like (Pol Pot and Chairman Mao), it wasn't for God but to purge and rebuild a society where "God" isn't essential. Does that make the concept of God bad? No. Because if it is bad, then that would mean every reason to kill (love, family, etc.) is bad. What is bad is people warping these concepts into a reason that enables them to take lives. People are misguided creatures. Blaming the killings on religion is just as bad as making religion the reason to kill. The blame lies on the shoulders of human ignorance and bigotry.
The world would be better off if people actually put the effort to understand everyone and everything around them.

"If you look at the way in which free expression is being attacked by religious extremism, the things of which these people are accused is always the same - it's blasphemy, heresy, insult, offense - it's this medieval vocabulary"
