CEBU CITY — About 400 runners are expected to join the seventh edition of the
Columbia Eco Trail Run on Sept. 16 in the municipality of Liloan, Cebu.

This will be the second time that Liloan hosts the 14-K run, which will start at the
mountain barangay of Cabadiangan. ”Liloan is ideal for eco trail runs because it
has a beautiful terrain and the local government unit is very supportive, especially
Mayor Duke Frasco,” race director Ralph Pilapil said.

The seventh edition, which will have a men’s and women’s division, is designed to
be more challenging for the participants. Although in the Carmen leg, racers
complained that they got lost because the race lacked marshals to guide the runners
in the course, organizers said Liloan will be more challenging.

”This will be a different route. We assure the participants that the route will be easier
to navigate compared to Carmen but more challenging because we will be adding
obstacles,” Pilapil said.

”I assure them that what happened in Carmen won’t happen with this leg because our
marshals are proven and tested. In Carmen, what happened was they left their posts
and didn’t wait for the race to finish,” Pilapil added.

He assured that the newbies and hardcore trail runners will enjoy the race and the
obstacles such as nets, bamboo traps and tires will not only test the participants’
endurance but also their patience.

The registration is open until Sept. 14 with registration fee of P500.

Those who have joined the past legs of the ecotrail will only have to pay P400.
