update ur phone to r9. you can do it yourself through the update software included in the cd. another thing you need to do is to install a couple of programs. like swissmanager and a couple of others. for those, go to yahoo groups (groups.yahoo.com) signup using a yahoo mail account (its the same) and search p990 or uiq 3.0 and start trying out the apps you can get. some are demo's and some are ahem... free to try...

R9 kinda improved sound volume and quality... i noticed the volume last night when all was silent and my phone beeped.. i was like OMG was that my phone?

r9 really helps. I read from the newsgroups that sony release a new r9e, im upgrading pa later because im still on r9a.

i couldnt update my firmware to r9. it keeps saying the software i have is the latest. they have this unbranded phones and branded ones? i duno what that means but well .. guess ill just look forward to a new firmware update this august

was able to update to r9ec001. it took awhile and the rebooting took awhile. it scared me because i thought i had bricked my phone. the upgrade should be under generic world version.

This problem seems to be occurring with phones released from Globe. According to SE ayala, they have different boards daw (which I strongly doubt is the cause)

In the U.S., phones that are released by verizon and other companies like that have their own updates for their locked units. This would probably be the case. I would suggest you contact globe, smart or wherever your phone is locked too (though not sure if this is occurring with smart units too, globe ra akong na experience, pag update nako sa akong father in law.)
