... err... work in a call center? i admit, after about 8 months here, my friends say i don't sound Filipino anymore... ( whatever that means~ )

i think the problem is that most pinoys just want to have good accent(american accent) and ignore a correctly structured sentence.

japan is a technologically advanced country. they have their products that makes them globally competitive. and so does china, korea... the list just goes on.

philippines, what do we got? be mindful that our country is highly dependent on tourism and OCW. ask foreigners and backpackers around if their prefer to ask a plain question and get a response in english or to pinpoint on maps and use signs just to communicate. (omigod! i experienced this in thailand.)

and how can i forget to include the sunshine industry of call centers. the current outsourcing engagements of these foreign companies provided jobs to many... just bcuz filipinos have demonstrated that we can achieve a comparable level of quality customer support.

but we can never rely on outsourcing or the call center industry. it is still important that our government will strengthen and support the small and medium entrepreneurs to be competitive. in that case there will be a more stable job opportunities for filipino.

i guess i must sound like i was speaking the language from birth...

There is no universal English. No matter how welll people think they speak English, there will always be hints in their accent that indicates where they come from. If you have ever seen the movie Fargo, you'd realize how much Minnesotans and their accents are stereotyped, but then when you are actually here, you also realize how true it is.

So I ask again, what do you sound like? Do you sound like a Minnesotan? maybe one with a deep Irish accent? or English with lots of German sounds mixed in? Maybe an English bloke? Australian maybe? How about South African? Indian perhaps? Mind you, they can all speak perfect English if they were raised up with that language. Lots of Filipinos speak really good English. I went to high school in CIS, and they had to ... but that doesn't mean one couldn't hear the Filipino tendencies of the language when they speak. So tell me ... what do you sound like?

I think I still sound like bisdak because people say I speak english carabao ..... more practice to me gyud . Hmmm ..... unsa nice school for english language / grammar proficiency ?
