The first statement refers to oviously objects hidden anywhere else but the ground . Thats why they need to sniff in the air for obvious reasons unless they are barking ( no pun intended ) at te wrong tree .

On the second statement , its contrary to the TRACKING . Nag libog pod ko if ever ang object was hidden in a cabinet . How will the dog actually find that object ? Unless mo patong sila ug lababo via ladder or a table regardless if asa sila nag sniff , sa air or sa ground ba . .

Atong balikon imong question statement ha .

Good morning sir. Where can I possibly find Schutzund QUALITY dogs here in Cebu? I ask this question because my conception of QUALITY is that the dogs are successfully campaigned here and abroad competing against QUALITY dogs also, not just to one or two "quality" dog. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Atong i line per line :

Where can I possibly find Schutzund QUALITY dogs here in Cebu?

I answered that you need to go to the upcoming show since you wont only see them personally but know also the owners and breeders .

my conception of QUALITY is that the dogs are successfully campaigned here and abroad competing against QUALITY dogs also, not just to one or two "quality" dog.

I answered you already that QUALITY has nothing to do with STRUCTURE in its entirety but also of character .

I also emphasized that one need not to be shown nor campaign . One can even identify a GSD as a 2 month old pup if this dog has a potential and te capacity to have the SCHUTZHUND QUALITY . I have seen GSD's that cost close to a half million because of the status na IMPORTED siya but basura ra diay sa litter . Maybe you confused the ord QUALITY as a dog that is accomplished already . I never said quality but I said SCH QUALITY so to make it short , a dog that is bound to be someone someday but of course lisod kay wala man ta ana na ruling sa GSDF maski under ta sa WUSV .

All GSD's are very trainable yet a lot of GSD's also are STUBBORN and WEAK . These are the qualities that you have to see to know unsay future sa GSD nimo if i career nimo ang sila through campaigns outside sa all breed show . If familiar ka sa mga showtypes like ni Quartz du Bergenie , he was a grand champion diri sa Pilipinas yet the dog has no prey drive . That is an example of a dog na QUALITY GSD yet dili siya SCHUTZHUND QUALITY .

Did I still not get your question ??
Thank you. Sometimes, learn to call spade a spade.

    NACSW™ - K9 NOSE WORK® RULE BOOK
Version 6.3 July 11, 2011 (Copyright 2011 National Association of Canine Scent Work, LLC)

    TRIAL ELEMENTS
Following are the elements that must be included in any K9 Nose Work® competition for title purposes. Each of the elements will be worth 25 points for a total possible 100 points overall. At each trial, there will be a maximum time limit set for each element. That time limit for the search cannot be exceeded if points are to be awarded. The elements may be presented in any order. Note: for most trials, the time limit for each element is generally five minutes or less.

    ELEMENTS OF THE INDIVIDUAL COMPETITION
    (100-point total score)
    - CONTAINER SEARCH
    - EXTERIOR AREA SEARCH
    - INTERIOR BUILDING SEARCH
    - VEHICLE SEARCH

    CONTAINER SEARCH
The Container Search element of the competition is similar to the ORT that is required for trial entry. The NW1 level typically includes 15 to 20 boxes set in any pattern. The container search may however include any shape or size boxes at the NW1 level. Containers and/or luggage (or combination thereof) may be included at the NW2 and NW3 level and may be set in any pattern. Additionally, the container search for NW2 and NW3 may also include distractor odors, such as but not limited to food, toys, and animal smells. Only one box (or container) will contain odor at the NW1 level. NW2 and NW3 may include multiple or combination odors. The odor used will correspond to the title level requirement. The location of the container (box) holding odor will remain in the same spot for all competitors to allow for no total time differences in the search. Additional ‘pre-cooked’ and blank boxes will be on stand-by for replacement should any of the boxes be damaged. Typically the search is conducted on-leash, but any length leash may be used. Handlers are not permitted to touch the containers. Dogs may walk on the containers; however the judge may award a fault if they feel the dog is compromising the environment.

    EXTERIOR AREA SEARCH

Each competition includes an outdoor search area. Examples of areas previously used include the exterior of a building, a parking lot, grassy field, courtyard, etc. This can be an especially difficult element because the competitors must train for a variety of distractions that are encountered outdoors. Dogs may have to search while coming across doggie odors, other animal smells (cats, gophers, rodents and other critters), litter, food trash, and simply the smells of the great outdoors. Additionally the dogs will have to search under all weather and wind conditions on trial day. The search may be conducted on or off-leash and is set by the NACSW™ official based on safety, and experience level of the dogs. The exterior search area will be clearly identified by flags, cones, tape or other identifiers marking the perimeter of the search area. The hides will only be within the designated search area. Dogs and handlers may move outside of those areas as part of their search pattern however. Handlers may choose to enter the search area from any angle but the clock will begin once they leave the designated start line even if the search command is not issued at that point. The location of the hide will remain in the same spot for all competitors to allow for no total time differences in the search. The search area and search time limit will be determined on a number of factors including, size, weather conditions, complexity, distractors and title level and will change with each trial location.

    INTERIOR BUILDING SEARCH

Each competition includes an interior building search that may include from one to three search areas depending on the title level. These are typically room-sized environments such as a kitchen, bathroom, conference room, office, or warehouse space. A single search area may include contiguous ‘rooms’ (For example: a master bedroom with adjoining bathroom). Often this portion of the competition is not open to spectators because the search areas may be small such as bathrooms and kitchens. The location of the hide will remain in the same spot for all competitors to allow for no total time differences in the search. The building could be any type of building such as a warehouse, school, church, restaurant, house, etc. The search may have on and off-leash areas, depending on the particular trial requirements.

    VEHICLE SEARCH

There may be three to five vehicles in the vehicle search, depending on the title level. Any type of vehicle may be used (car, motorcycle, truck, trailer, semi, etc). Handlers must determine which vehicles contain the hide and specific location of that hide. The difficulty of this type of search is to pinpoint the location as the odor is likely moving around and below the exterior of the vehicle and/or bouncing among vehicles. Handlers must help their dogs work to the source of the target odor before committing to an alert. Handlers may be assessed a fault if their dog excessively paws or damages the vehicle at the judge’s discretion. The handler will never need to open a vehicle door for their dog to locate the hide. The location of the hide will remain in the same spot for all competitors to allow for no total time differences in the search.

    TITLE REQUIREMENTS
    NW1 Title Requirements

Each title is based on a perfect score of 100 points and no more than 3 faults. The maximum time for each element, as determined by the specific competition, must not be exceeded. Times for each NW1 element generally do not exceed 5 minutes.

NW1 (Nose Work 1): Requires one qualifying trial of 100 points score with no more than 3 faults. All hides must be located.

    NW1 Requirements & Parameters:
    • Proficient in one odor: (Birch); must have ORT on file with NACSW™. Only odor #1, Birch, will be included for this title.

    • One hide per element at this level. Only birch may be used in each element.

    • Element Specifications:

    • Container Search:
      -Always on leash
      -No intentional distractors
-Container search will be boxes set in any pattern.
-Please see “Trial Elements” for more detail

    • Interior Building Search:
-May be on or off leash as designated by the certifying official
-No blank areas. (Search areas without odor that must be searched and deemed clear.)
-Please see “Trial Elements” for more detail

    • Exterior Area Search:
-On leash; may be off leash option but only if area is secure
-Please see “Trial Elements” for more detail

    • Vehicle Search:
      -On leash
      -Up to three vehicles
-Please see “Trial Elements” for more detail

    • Alerts: Handler must call the alert, but a formal, final response by the dog is not required. It is valid if the handler calls alert even if the dog is not exhibiting one of the specific alert behaviors stated on the score sheet before the start of the first element.

    • Height and accessibility of hides: Should be no more than approximately four (4) feet high. The source will be accessible to the dog (but may require the handler’s help to get close to the hide in some cases).

    • A note about height: The height parameter is a general guideline provided for training purposes. No trial location will ever be the same. If a kitchen counter were 3 inches taller than the specified guideline, it would still be used for a hide location as long as the dog would be able to gain access to it with the handler’s help.

The Nose Work target odors are made using cotton swabs scented with natural essential oils.
The three target odors are Birch, Anise and Clove.
