    1. That is a fact. But it does not deny that fact that the culture he afflicted, perplexed and disrespected exists.

Your idea of preserving the Filipino culture being against the goal of economic progress is somewhat bias and unfair. But that is your opinion.

    2. I hope it does disappear, but I am awfully hoping in an utter failure. It's been exposed, the media may loose interest but the damage has been done.

There was no depiction of Catholics(Catholicism) in any part of that "work of art." However, there was a borrowed symbol(image) that was being used in a manner not suitable to the symbol's purpose.

Butangan nako'g oten imung picture nya akong ingnun ang mga taw nga mao ni akong pagtan-aw nimo, okay ra?

Everyone is a non-believer, least we can do to progress together is to put ourselves in each other shoes, if you can't; steal the shoes.

For one i dont think im in a level such as Christ that actually can command something, unless you want my picture to symbolize something other than me being "me" to convey your point, i think it would be within you rights. Like if you will use my picture to depict a woman and put a ***** on her mouth to portray prostitution Or put a vagina for a mouth where a hundred babies comeing out to give life to the idea of over population. But then you to ask my permission.

First, the art exhibit portrays the current culture and one of them is religion. There is no depiction of catholicism but there is depiction of religion (lets say catholic religion since its the prevailing religion still in the country). Then its is portrayed vis-a-vis political issues, and also other worldly materials.

If I may say its not against catholicism, is against religoius hypocrisy.

The use of religion vis-a-vis in politics and in the socio-cultural landscape. So why the phallus symbol then? the phallus have a lot of meaning, the artist said its supposed to portray power.

So what can we conclude then, religion, power, politics, sexy pictures?

Are you mad becuase you are a catholic and you think it violates your beleif? what beliefs of yours is actually violated?

or are you mad becuase you just feel threatened that this will lead to disintegration of the catholic faith and all faith actually to be replaced something more carnal and basic, which in truth is what might be the artist is trying to convey.

(its is just my opion, though. its a piece of art anyone can give their own meaning)

    You probably are not Catholic.

Of course we are upset about his work. Being Catholics, we feel it is a great insult to desecrate something that is sacred to us. isn't this enough reason?

What i think a lot of people here, THE CATHOLICS, want to stress is RESPETO ra jud. RESPECT towards other people's faith & religion. Religion, unlike politics, is something more sensitive and personal. So daghan jud ma-offend.

Now if you are not Catholic, and you find it amusing nganong affected kaayo ming mga Catholic, than this i cannot blame you. Basin wala mo gi-tudluan ug Respect sa inyong Religion. And i'm not saying respect lang towards the Catholic faith, but across all religions, Islam, Buddhism, etc. Maskin lahi2 tag religion and lain2 ta ug beliefs, RESPETO lang unta.

I think walay right ang mga tao diri to look down on those people na grabe kaayo mu defend sa ilahang faith. yes daghan corruption sa Catholic Church but dili man ang mga pari ang among gi-simba. si God man. and kung para namo si God kay represented by a rebolto ni Jesus Christ and so therefore para namo sacred ang rebolto, then no one here has the right to mock at what we believe in.

I wonder what the outcome would've been if the artist placed a d**k on the face of Sto.Nino and displayed his art here in Cebu.

or maybe you are also just trying to put an "intellectual" interpretation "kuno" over something na wala jud diay meaning at all. Para lang ingnon na mas taas mo ug intellectual powers kay mas dali mo makasabot sa dili obvious and that you are thinking against the norm so therefore you are high and mighty over all the stupid, blind, and overly religous Catholics in this forum who are just defending their faith & beliefs.
