For me lang ha... Dili unta to i pakita sa LIVE TV ang iyang gibuhat sa sheriff... I know nga problemado siya karon sa iya City, but lain sad kaayo tan-awon nga babayeng buhat mag ingon ato... Then klaro kaayong ma apektahan ang pamilya sa sheriff labi ng mga anak nga sungogon unya sa ila skol...

For all we know, the sheriff was only doing his job. He is not under the Mayor's Office (Executive branch) but the RTC (Judicial Branch). The Mayor cannot and have no authority to order him around. With this act, the Mayor only asserted that she does not respect the judiciary. She is showing that SHE (the Dutertes) is the LAW in Davao.

BTW, this is precisely why we have a very big problem with squatters. The mayors and other local officials coddle them, or at the least show a patronizing attitude. Whenever a court order is to be executed to return a piece of real property to its rightful owners, they come in and act "compassionate" to their squatting constituents.

1 - check whether the demolition was in order, according to due process, etc etc

2 - by stopping the demolition, the mayor showed she doesn't care much what the court (if there was court order), or the owners think.

i don't think that was a "brave decision" It was more like political pandering...
