... for me, the best dream theater album to date. Their last "great" album was Scenes from a Memory. Six degrees was awesome and Train of Thought was over-wrought. But Octavarium, bbaahh. Mind blowing. They focused more on song-writing and melody rather than super virtuoso playing. No more 3 minute guitar/keyboard solos. Some say it's too commercial for dream theater's standards. but hey, each of their albums has different directions, that makes them unique. They have a U2 inspired song - I walk beside you - funny to think James Labrie sporting Bono's signature shades. Most of the songs are on a 7 min basis but it wont be a dream theater album if there aint an Epic song. The title track Octavarium is a 24 minute aural pleasure....
reactions anyone??.
