hi,

i am planning to buy an mp3 player.
aku budget kay about the price of an iPod Mini...
i have searched around... and i found an alternative, the Rio Carbon...

wonder ko unsa ila battery gamit? what if later, i need to replace it? pwede bah? or do i have to buy a new player also, i am concerned about the durability (who wouldn't be))...

ang ipod mocharge either you connect nimo ipod sa usb using the usb cable or the plug the usb cable to the plug adapter to the wall socket.

sa ako 60gig for music and photo you need to have windos xp or else you cannot upload music to the ipod.

i might be a bit biased but you really can't go wrong with an ipod.
just about the only thing bad people can say about it is that it's a bit pricey (given that
some of it's rivals got fm, record functionality, etc. at a somewhat lesser price).
re its price, there was an article on slashdot awhile back about design costs.
the ipod is one of the most beatifully designed hardware of its time. the research and
implementation of that design must have cost apple quite a bit but the result as
everyone can see is impressive. naturally apple would have to add that design cost
to the retail price. most people won't want to pay for that extra cost. i, on the other hand gladly paid for that cost. until you get your hands on an ipod, you probably
can't appreciate just how beautiful its design is. this is probably why people can't
understand paying for the extra cost.

you said you budget is good enough for a mini, i suggest you go for it but make
sure you get the 2nd gen mini. batt life has been increased to 18hrs and for the price
of the first gen mini, you'll get the 6GB version. and of course, there's the clickwheel.
you just have to use it to really understand
also there are hundreds of accessories built around the ipod.
it's practically a whole new industry on its own.

btw, the rio carbon is a good alternative to an ipod mini as well as the iriver h10.

If you want to buy here in cebu, afaik, you have only two choices:

iPod mini and Create Zen Micro.

iPod mini - user friendly, nice build

Zen - a lot of features (FM, recorder, replaceable batteries), nice build, makasapot lang iyang touchpad at first nimo gamit specially if wala pa ka maanad.

They're both good. Dili ka magmahay either sa duha.

Ipod nako (20GB G4) since Nov 2004 pa. Walay problema. Battery life is great. Highly recommended.
