Building Blocks of the Human Spirit

It's true what my grandmother used to quote, "It's better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all."
It's corny, yes, but it's true. I have experienced not being able to feel anything - that is, I know what being emotionally numb is like - and it's hell. It doesn't make me feel human at all. Sometimes it makes me feel beneath human, other times it makes me feel above human. Neither feels good. If I were to gain some kind of power over most humans, I didn't want to have to give up my feelings for it.
I realize feeling is better than non-feeling; and what are feelings but the building blocks of the human spirit? I say human spirit because if I said human life, some people would say, no it's cells that are the building blocks of human life. So human spirit it is.![]()
So from now on, I'll try to embrace all the waves of feelings that come my way - the feeling of not being loved back, betrayal, what have you. Like the shore receives the ocean, it does so without complaint because it is not afraid of the future. I AM now less afraid of the future. ^__^
