She finally had what she wished for --to dance and show her devotion to the Baby Jesus in the recently concluded Sinulog street dance festival. I definitely have no qualms about it as I myself am a self-professed devotee. It's just that this request of hers was sashayed with a rather clangorous intent, and marked with a lot of controversies, one of which is her adamant refusal to leave office despite her irrevocable suspension as the governor of the province.
I only have one word for her. The sound of which undeniably rings like an onomatopoeia of sorts in a rather disgruntled piece of poetry. Anachronism, that is being in the wrong place and wrong time. I dare say that I have promised not to meddle with anything that has to do with politics. But somehow this show of defiance on the part of our so-called high ranking officials has left most of us educators swinging our heads in sheer disgust. Questions are left unanswered in our heads. Though we have often times taught about the concept of fighting for one's right and in the process recognizing the right of others, we are left with musings on why when someone of a low rank and authority is served with a suspension (say, a policeman), he/she automatically is relieved of his/her post without his/her side being heard about the issue and then when it is already somebody who resides in a building marked with inscriptions as: THE AUTHORITY OF THE GOVERNMENT EMANATES FROM THE PEOPLE, he/she gets to stay there for as long as she could pay (allegedly) her supporters to do all the clamor for power on her behalf. Doesn't this clearly define anachronism?
If she truly claims to be blameless of the accusations thrown her way and if the late DILG Secretary (bless his soul) was wrong in imposing the suspension, then shouldn't she just step down and let the law have its final say? Whatever happened to authority emanating from the people? My second word for her would have to GRACE. It takes enough grace for a woman of her rank to step down and let justice take its course. I'm just sad just how she was not able to spend Christmas and New Year's eve with her family when she's there in her office, using all its amenities, to the chagrin of most her provincial constituents.
I'm not quite updated now with what's happening. I'm just hoping the transactions are still in place in the Capitol. And hoping still that she will finally come to her senses--stop all these craving for power for and let the public really give their sympathy towards her. If she does need one, she should play the underdog. With sheer defiance, I doubt whether she'll get one.
I hope she'll come to her senses one of these days and let her supporters for once get some good night's rest at home without even bothering to deploy policemen who will one day get suspended and relieved of their post, their patches all taken and sequestered all because of the love of the law that they swore to obey, follow, and protect.
Just saying.
