It's selling like banana Q at the nearest tindahan, hot, sticky and oh so crunchy.
Probably because he has another match and the limelight is focused on him that all these news about him and his training is resurfacing.
Who wouldn't have known Mr. "You know?" His product endorsements are mushrooming on all media types like lichens on a rock. From pain relievers to energy drinks, he has slowly conquered all our psyches. He ventured into being a boxer, won several matches and have placed himself as the fourth among the most famous sports icon in the US. He went into politics, too where he had some bouts with it and finally became the Congressman of Saranggani province what with just his popularity and his moolah to contend with. He even earned a degree in one of the universities here in Cebu. He, who never finished school, has more feathers added to his rather already flamboyant life than the average masterand who is sweating her butt out for that much coveted degree.
The police has him to thank for for the almost zero crime rate when his matches are aired via Pay per View or late coverage on air or cable TV. Save for the mortality rates that are caused by him, too about people having a heart attack in the guise of getting all too hyped up with his punches.
His wife gets product endorsements. He showers his mother with million peso-worth Hermes bags. He sends his kids to the best international schools. His mansions are extravagant and pompous.
He has probably accomplished more than his average contemporaries. He has the best of both worlds. So, what else does he still think he has left undone?
And now he is venturing into faith. I have nothing against him promoting about the bible and its teachings but when these are mentioned in the context of his matches, they really look quite an anachronism -- in the wrong place and time. And what's this I heard, he wanted to be a pastor? Tsk.
When that happens, I have yet to see churches in the shape of boxing rings!
Yeah, praise be the boxing rings!
