Burnt Out Coals

It is easy to get fired up. You turn on your iPod or your stereo system, create something out of your hands, attend a week long seminar and you are on your way. Others tend to anchor their inspiration on someone or a goal -- to buy that new gadget, that dream house or that dream car.
But what happens when that fire turns into burnt out coals, almost losing their heat, their sense?
It happens to all of us, students, parents and professionals alike. For some the duration is quite long. For others, they have a way of getting back on track. It is that day when you suddenly become so empty. Even in the middle of a hectic day, you feel so trapped and searching for questions, for meaning. You feel like you are in a dark cave. You're groping, hoping that something soon will resurface and make sense.
Then that question for meaning and sense suddenly gets the better of us. We start questioning even greater things. What am I really here for? Why am I doing all these things? What do I get in return?
Mind you, the questions will keep coming and will even get multiplied until you yourself will come to terms with your own purpose. It won't come out as a light bulb that just appears from your right temple or as a vision on TV. It will come out in slow or fast progressions, snapshots of what you intend to be. It is about your passion -- what you wanted to do and what you would rather die doing. Whether it is writing and composing songs, facing and tinkering that computer the whole day, motivating people to become their better selves, the possibilities are endless. You just have to figure out what it is that you can't live not doing. Work your heart on it painstakingly.
The tragedy of it all is that you are in a situation which you don't like and can't figure out why you're there in the first place. Get out of there. Pursue your passions, no matter what it takes.
So yeah, you are a burnt out coal but that doesn't mean you have died out already. You can still be fanned and in no time you're ready to get fired up again.
