MANILA, Philippines – Just in time for summer, Magnum ice cream was launched in the Philippine market on Tuesday.

The ice cream bars are coated with a thick layer of cracking Belgian chocolate. In Manila, it comes in three flavors -- almond, chocolate truffles and the classic, which consists of a thick bar of vanilla ice cream on a stick covered with chocolate.

Magnum is the first ice cream on a stick targeted as a premium ice cream for adults. Today, it is one of the world's leading ice cream brands, selling 1 billion units annually worldwide, and is the biggest brand of Unilever ice creams, the global consumer goods giant said in its website.

Magnum is a collaborative effort between Unilever and RFM, the mother company of local dairy giant Selecta.

The ice cream bars are now available in supermarkets and 7-11 outlets nationwide for P50 each. These are also sold in multiple packs.

Magnum's Hollywood celebrity endorsers include Eva Longoria, Eva Mendes, Ivanka Trump and Rachel Bilson, who appeared in the Magnum TV commercial in the United States.

The country's brand ambassadors, on the other hand, include celebrity stylist Liz Uy, fashion designer Rajo Laurel and TV host Raymond Gutierrez.

Local celebrities and netizens immediately welcomed the news, with Magnum among the top trending topics on microblogging site Twitter.

“My favorite ice cream when I was living in Istanbul. Yummy!” tweeted actress Ruffa Gutierrez.
