A week-long exhibit of Rotary information and service projects featuring: About Rotary International, District 3860 Rotary-in-Action and Rotary Club service project exhibit. It is scheduled on February 18-25, 2012 at the Ayala Center Cebu exhibit area. This same exhibit will travel to Davao City for exhibition during the District Convention on March 8-10, 2012. Grab this opportunity to showcase your service projects in a venue that has a huge captive audience; help us create greater awareness and appreciation for Rotary and to attract new members through Rotary information. Feb 25 Rotary Fiesta - We will be playing Rotary humanity-in-motion videos, D3860 slideshow of major undertakings – Anti-Dengue campaign, Typhoon Sendong Relief Mission, club videos of significant events like the Gift of Life. It’s also a Rotary fellowship with cocktails and a two-hour entertainment in support of young talents, featuring the amazing Loboc Youth Ambassadors Band and dynamic Cebuano singer Monique de los Santos; to be attended by Rotarians and their families, Interactors and Rotaractors, RCC, partners, sponsors and benefactors. Feb 26 Rotary Service Mission – A major medical mission that includes surgical, dental, optical, pediatric and immunization day on February 26, 2012. The target beneficiaries are the indigent residents of Barangay Guba, one of the mountain barangays of Cebu where help is remote. This is in partnership with Cebu Medical Society, All Terrain Medical Relief Organization, Cebu City Medical Center, and 100 volunteers. We need doctors, nurses and pledges for medicines, food and drinks for volunteers. Please contact DICO Bernie Lumapas for any support you can provide. We need warm bodies too, so Rotarians we would appreciate your help at the area for a better delivery of our service. The contest shall have five (5) Photo Contest Categories based on Rotary International’s Five (5) Avenues of Service, namely:
1) Club Service Category (focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club) – activities related to membership, fellowships, weekly meetings, district conventions, district assemblies, trainings, seminars, etc.
2) Community Service Category (covers the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in its community) – projects on literacy and education, poverty and hunger, community development,
3) Vocational Service Category (encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards) – includes medical missions where doctors and health professionals are Rotarians themselves, literacy and education where Rotarians are educators themselves, etc.
4) International Service Category (encompasses actions taken to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace) – activities and projects related to International Service Programs, The Rotary Foundation Programs, World Community Service (WCS), Rotary Volunteers, Rotary Community Corps, Group Study Exchange (GSE), Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship activities, Rotary Friendship Exchange (RFE), Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE), etc.
5) New Generation Service Category (recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities, service projects, and exchange programs) – activities and projects related to Rotaract and Interact Clubs, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), etc.
Final entries shall be submitted as un-mounted glossy finish 8”x12” Photo Print without border with the Photographer’s ID number written on the back of the photo indicating proper orientation. It must be in an envelope with the corresponding Rotary 2012 photo competition ID number only.
