"Luwag" is a magical wand in disguise used by our moms to serve us good food. Suddenly this Luwag turned itself into a place to answer your cravings", said Romel.
Simply put, a luwag is a Visayan term for ladle. The "Luwag" is the chosen symbol for the restaurant. It is evident with the decorations too. For Romel Pia, Managing Partner of Luwag Native Seafood Grill, the coining of the term Luwag as the name of the restaurant, gives him memories of home-cooked quality meals prepared with love and care and that is what he wants to do with the restaurant - give the diners quality and delicious meals. Growing up in a household that loves to cook has influenced him to cook and develop a passion for food and cooking.
Romel Pia
Romel has an extensive background with the food industry. He has been behind some of the local well-known restaurants in Cebu. Because of that, an idea of coming up with a restaurant that is in line with keeping up the tradition of being a true-blooded Cebuano was born and thus, Luwag Native Seafood Grill opened its doors to the dining public last June 28, 2015. The restaurant with an area of 60 square meters can accommodate 70 persons.
The restaurant is a collaboration and a marriage of ideas between Romel Pia and Leonhardt Cabahug, who both have experiences in business and the food industry.
Leonhardt Cabahug is a successful businessman and is also a former varsity basketball player.
