Having worked with big time stars such as Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, and Piolo Pascual just to name a few, it is safe to say that Pilar has had a ton of acting background and experience. With so many projects under her belt, the self-confessed born again Christian still delights in challenging her artist self and does not plan to quit the showbiz circuit any time soon.
As a matter of fact, to fully express her desire to help spread the love and passion for the arts, Pilar has decided to finally realize a project she's been meaning to do for a few years now: an acting school. After much careful thought and preparation, the Pilar Pilapil and Performing Arts Academy (PIPPA) is here! At a press conference held at the Pino Restaurant, Pilar says she dreams of creating a breakthrough with today's aspiring actors. "We would want to be able to create a new breed of artists wherein there is discipline, quality and vision," she said. She further elaborated that it is essential for an artist to also be a visionary, "there has to be a reason why you're there. You can't just be there for no reason."
When asked what her classes will be like, Pilar assured the press that her classes will be far from that of school routines. "We don't want to offer theories. We all get that from school," she said. "We want them to come out as natural actors," she added. The former beauty queen also said her goal as a mentor is to bring out authenticity among her students,"our aim is for them to come out as artists who are original and not trying hard. Real acting isn't based on methods, it is based on instinct and intellect."
What separates PIPPA from the rest of its contemporary acting workshops is that they will also tackle the importance of personality development."It's very important for one to have character building for you to become an actor. You need to be whole." Students can expect that they don't just get techniques and methods on acting, but also new approaches in social etiquette. "I want them to enjoy and appreciate what they're doing so that other people watching them will feel the same way," she said with confidence.
Pilar, being the passionate evangelical Christian that she is, also stated she considers this her ministry. "This is where the Lord has placed me. Where ever He puts you, that is your ministry." Asked how she plans to incorporate her faith in her upcoming workshop, the veteran actress replied by saying she will definitely "inject Christian values" once in awhile.
As a whole, the former book author also made mention that the kind of material she wants for her students to work on will definitely have quality. "We want to be able to upgrade entertainment, not according to what the masses want, but according to what the masses need," she noted.
Currently, Pilar is also gearing up for her stint on the upcoming Kapamilya teleserye "Pangako Sayo" which stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
Held on April 9-11, classes will be at the Henry Hotel with a culminating activity on the third day. PIPPAA is open to everybody ages 14 and up.
