Talk about hitting two birds with one stone, joining a triathlon and going on a trip. This is what Hunat Sugbo goes to Argao just did, triathlon and tourism paired in one setting.
Hunat Sugbo Triathlon was organized by Cebu Parklane International Hotel in cooperation with the local government of Argao under the leadership of Mayor Edcel Galeos.
According to Mayor Galeos, having the Hunat Sugbo event in Argao was good for the local tourism and the business sector. The triathlon was also a good highlight for their town fiesta.
This year, Hunat Sugbo had three categories—standard, sprint and relay distances. The standard and relay are set at 1.5-km. swim, 40K bike 10K run; while the sprint features 750-m. swim, 20K bike and 5K run. The Swim leg started at Mahayahay Beach Resort at 9am. Bike and run started at the tennis court behind Casa Real and the finish line ended right in front of Casa Real.
Cebu Parklane International Hotel's Board of Director Alan Ting was awarded the STANDARD (Overall - Male), followed by Emmanuel Comendador and Kristian Lim came in third.
Lorhiz Lopez emerged as the winner for STANDARD (Overall – Female), Cianyl Jamae Gonzales came in second and Meg Stevens took the third place.
The winner for the SPRINT (Overall-Male) is Ralph Edward So. Alton Lorenzo Amor claimed the second place while Frederick Castaneda got the third place.
SPRINT (Overall-Female) winners are as follows: Mercy Issah Priagula for the first place, Shaia Ruth Uy for the second place and Mizraym Capampangangan for the third place.
The event was well attended by both spectators and athletes. Spectators came in the form of friends and family who were there to give support to the athletes and spectators who are from Argao who were there to cheer and welcome everyone to their beautiful place.
Everyone came out a winner in their own way. The athletes gave their best to make a mark that day. It was a test of endurance, willpower and determination to get through to the finish line.
