• “RISING FROM THE RUINS” - SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF BOHOL

A project initiated by private individuals concerned with Bohol’s rich cultural heritage, “Sights and Sounds of Bohol” was designed with the aim to become a learning tool to document the plight of Bohol’s cultural treasures through a traveling photo exhibit.

Touring in the SM Super Malls in Quezon City, Cavite, Batangas, Pampanga, Zambales and Bulacan; as well as the Cultural Center of the Philippines from November 30, 2013 to May 27, 2014, “Sights and Sounds” successfully conveyed the plight of Bohol’s fragile cultural heritage to masses of viewers. We are now moving forward and bring the exhibit in SM Cebu this coming September 13-23, 2014. By showcasing the historical sites and structures taken by cultural travel photographer Noel B. San Andres before the October 15, 2013 earthquake, the exhibition also strove to inculcate among viewers the need to support initiatives for the restoration of these cultural sites, via donations to the Diocese of Tagbilaran City.

The exhibition, which was made possible by the support of SM Super Malls, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Manila Bulletin, Business Mirror, IMAG Photography, EPSON Philippines, Nyaman Studio, BobCat Outsourcing Solutions, Maria Leah L. Fabia, Egay’s Farm, SERVO, Rotary Club of Philam-Quezon City, the Lima Park Hotel, Island Cove, King’s Royale, and Sol Marina, aims to continue advocating for the active consciousness of Philippine sacred cultural heritage through continued documentation, research, and the involvement of various stakeholders within the communities affected by the 2013 earthquake.
