It has been so long since I last wrote, be it through my blog or through an editorial here.
It may be that long that you may be wondering: "Who is she again?"
Let me re-introduce myself.
Hi. I am known by my iSTORYAn friends as Thisbe or Ara, because of my handle here.. I am 32 (cue Taylor Swift’s song that I murdered: I don’t know bout you, but I’m feeling 32… ) and I am your Editor-in-Chief.
Here at iSTORYA.NET, we talk more about stories beyond the talking. Just like you, I have my story. You see, I am a widow. My husband was known by iSTORYAns as CraSHBURN who lurked around the Computer and Hardware sections to moderate. Some disliked him, and a lot became his friends. I, on the other hand, love him til death and beyond. I write about it through my blog.
While writing may be therapeutic, it is so hard to see what's good left when you restart life at 32 and everyone else is just starting theirs. It is so hard to write when you are in the midst of emotional crisis. Aside from my personal catastrophes, the Visayas has been through so much that being festive in any way (writing, celebrating, etc) is far from our minds.
However, in whatever state we are in, while it is hard to be celebratory especially that Christmas is just a few days away, it is not impossible to be grateful. Look around you and listen deeply to the stories that you hear, some broadcasted and some are not—of prisoners giving up their meals to help, of countries coming together for help, of competitors coming together for a unified cause, of broken families being united, of Christmas parties being given up just for donation, of little kids breaking their piggy banks, of beggars giving, of the traffic because of trucks full of relief goods to the different parts of Visayas, of life, of the appreciation of life amidst death, etc.

We may have lost our faith in the government or our leaders, but when you open your heart to what's happening, you cannot lose faith in the spirit of Bayanihan that almost every one has at this moment, be it Filipino or not.

Yes, there may always be something to rant about, but hey, I choose to see the splurge of humanity that I see in almost every one. It is a matter of perspective, a good friend of mine used to say (thanks, BeoR). From my end, I can choose to wallow and grieve over my loss. But then again, I also have a choice to celebrate the life that he has, the love that we had that was so special it will strengthen me to go through life on my own.
Every day and every moment is a choice.
Choose to be grateful.
Choose to lend a hand.
Choose to be an inspiration.
Choose love.
Happy Thanksgiving, iSTORYAns.
Thank you for all. Thank you for reading this. Thank you for your support. Thank you for being you.
What are you grateful for at this moment? Mag iSTORYA Ta..
