• Web3 app for social good Tekkon launches in Cebu

Intending to improve infrastructure in the country, the non-profit organization Whole Earth Foundation (WEF) officially launches the Web3 app Tekkon in Cebu.

This announcement kick-starts the app's nationwide launch after its initial introduction in Manila last year.

Tekkon is an incentivized app where users can post, inspect or review infrastructures such as manhole covers and utility poles. The app is free of charge, and users can create an account, play, and earn reward points with no startup costs or investments needed.

Users are assigned a virtual dog when they sign up. Users can use rewards points to buy accessories for their dogs, get new dogs, or convert points to tokens on their e-wallet.

Tekkon chief marketing officer Hideki Okada said they are looking forward to the nationwide rollout of the app.

"Cebu is our first area outside Metro Manila, and we are just starting. We are ecstatic to grow our user base all over the Philippines as we work together towards the betterment of the country," said Okada.

According to Okada, the app's primary goal is to collect data that will be used to solve infrastructure issues in the area.

"We saw a good reception in Japan where it all started. Tekkon was also a success in India and Singapore. So we hope Filipinos will include Tekkon in their everyday life and enjoy spotting manhole covers and utility poles as they walk, commute, or go out. It is an easy and fun way to help our community," Okada added.

Tekkon is available for download on iOS and Android. For more information on Tekkon, visit tekkon.com.
