I don’t know with you but soul music is one of my favorite music genre and when I am feeling down and would need an emotional uplift, soul is the way to go! And while we appreciate the voices of Alicia Keys, Adele, Jodeci, Boyz2Men, All 4 One, etc., we just need to open our ears and scavenge the local music industry for soul musicians who are homegrown and can still captivate your hearts and souls the way these legends do.
The Cebuano soul singers are not to be belitted (and I am not referring to your neighborhood belters singing at the wee hours of dawn) as they bring out in their music that generic Bisdak personality coupled with that deep faith and appreciation for real music with an easy demeanor. You will be surprised to know that Cebu has a surplus of homegrown talents.
This November 29, 2012, 9pm, be captivated with Cebuano soul music at the Bistro Ecila of the Ayala Center Terraces as the best of the city’s RnB talents gather together for one night of pure soul and RnB music which they coyly call “Soul Jam”. Prepare for some jaw-dropping music from: Youtube sensation Carlo Anton; Drae Cerna of Alkaline; the original voice behind Serendipity’s hit—You are the One- Marg Carangue; Suburbia’s voice on Happy Ending- Josh Espina; Filscap/Artist Ko singer-songwriter of Soulstring and the voice behind “Wish”, “Worth the Wait, etc. – Aldwin Rondina; and Refrain’s (all male RnB group) Uly Tenchavez, Kurt Ebarita, Jad Bantug, Daryl Leong and Les Paul Pineda.
Special musical support also comes from Zach Escobedo, Mircyclay’s Anton, 0.32’s William and Serendipity’s Gary. Soul Jam also features Martina San Diego from Washington DC who is a member of the group Ivy Rose. She came out recently in America’s Got Talent, impressing the judges.
